I'm going to have to agree with @Trac Toy. I don't see a way around it with the FR-S front grill. I will gladly look into it though. Once I make a mock up bracket I'll look into what it'll look like on an FR-S.

I have decided to go on the front of the crash beam pinch weld to keep as far away from all intercoolers and oil coolers. New design will be mocked up in a week hopefully.

I'm just asking a question that's inevitably going to come up. With that said, I have no need for the race version as I don't race the car, but knowing what's involved for the install is always a good thing.

I definitely need the rods. Got the bolts the other day thanks. Let me know about the rods, I could use those, starting to warp upwards

I will still ask to snap a few shots with a local's FR-S to show how it would work/won't work.

Do you mean that it is warping downward? The splitter should not warp up. We're working on a solution and hopefully it will be done within a month or so .

The FR-S grille is $35. I had to buy one to replace the one my dealer raped trying to figure out the license plate mount before I had my car.

So if you cut it and have to replace it later on, it's not that big a deal.

I'm going to vote for dilling out the pre-existing hole and using a riv-nut.

in for rivnut. drilling new holes in front of a radiator/condensor sounds like a good way to need a new one

We are leaning towards drilling holes in the pinch weld of the crash beam. You would need about a foot long drill bit to hit the condenser.

Reasons behind decision:
-This will reduce the cost of the kit by shortening the length of the machined splitter tie
-This will move the ties/bracket as far away from any oil coolers, intercoolers, etc. that are installed in the front.
-For a BRZ it will require no cutting of the grill at all (and it may not require any cutting with an FR-S, not sure yet).

I'll have further pictures up tonight hopefully, it really will be a fairly straight forward install . But if collectively no one likes the idea, I will switch gears towards the riv-nut idea.

If you manage to hit the radiator while drilling the bumper beam, you need to claim it as a record.

There's plenty of room to safely do it.

So I quickly made these brackets (big emphasis on quickly as these are NOT what you will receive, this is for brain storming and a quick mock-up idea). They would end up being pieces of bent aluminum. They would be anodized black and probably get lost within the black of the bumper grill. I'll see what everyone thinks for a few days before drilling holes and changing the size of the splitter tie.

That looks like a fantastic setup... bolted to the crash bar will be super solid! Kudos!

Cant wait for the finished product!

Agreed.
@eric6: I like the look of that bracket. Since you're doing aluminum could you offer alternative colors (anodized or powdercoated) for an extra fee?

That's a great idea. That might let you make separate brackets for an FR-S bumper too, so you don't have to cut the bumper at all.

I will attempt to make a bracket that fits both bumpers, but I may inevitably be unable to as the FR-S bumper is much less open. But I will do my best.

Yes, the alternative option would be to sell you the plain brackets and let you do whatever color you want. They do not *need* to be coated as they will be aluminum, so they will not corrode.

Thanks. I can't either.
