About 90% of the time I don't know whether I'm responding to a thread in the Subaru or Toyota section because I only ever look at "New Posts".

All new cars crumple at 4K so that you don't! They are all so faithful they will sacrifice themselves to keep you safe.

I just sat through a two hour address from our CEO. It is not inconceivable that for the next year you will be able to get some smoking deals on cars. The incentives to get the industry back on track will be huge.

Garage
I'll bet there will not be a turbo, but there might be an increase to 2.4L.
This will satisfy the tuner companies to hopefully jump on the platform again.

Plan B would be smaller displacement, such as a 1.6, with forced induction.

I could see either of those 2 scenarios, although the smaller displacement will probably be more realistic for keeping down weight as well as maintaining best fuel economy for power produced. It then comes down to cost.

My guess is with the platform change, evolutionary restyle maintaining some resemblance to the first gen, and not a whole lot more in the way of added features since this is an entry level sport car.

This car is sold to first time or younger car buyers, and also people who have another vehicle. Wealthier ones will probably buy Corvettes or Mustangs. This has to meet a price point.

Any if they stay quirky as Subaru usually us, the armrest will be a dealer-installed option.

This is the urban legend but there is no real proof to that. Look at just the people on this forum, we don't come close to matching that, well except maybe the "people with another vehicle" but that's true for just about any household with more then one person in it any longer.

I was actually trying to be a different kind of sarcastic about more than one part of the forum, so I guess we both walked into that one.

Older data but I bet the ages of the buyers (of new) have not dropped by much if any.
All bets are off on the ages of the buyers of used ones though!

Agreed, but on that last part, giving you credit since it's another of your trademarks, it doesn't matter to the manufacturers who buys it used, it matters who buys it from them.

Exactly!
The same as the guys that whine about the demise of the MT in one place and then in another tell every single person that askes what they should buy to always buy used and never ever buy a new car because you are stupid to take the depreciation hit. Decisions are made based on how many new MTs are sold not on how many times a used one changes hands.
