What’s wrong with that?

It was all so unnecessary. Ask the thousands who lost their jobs and the mayors who lost their tax base.

According to the Census Bureau, after the state and cities poured about $1T into welfare programs since 1992, 60% of Californians live in poverty, don't have jobs, account for one-third of total US welfare recipients and politicians responded by voting in a minimum wage increase.

Sad to see my former home state become so corrupted.

Maybe less jobs means relatively more workers so wages go down, so that is good for remaining businesses. Maybe the businesses that left have increasing shipping costs to get their product back to California. Ehh these circular economic evaluations.

Maybe they moved back to Texas with those jobs. People poured here during the housing bubble then defaulted and some left; more people are finally leaving. Meanwhile the housing market never recovered, so we have a huge deficit in housing supply and growth, yet exorbitant prices because of demand, which creates a huge burden, and ultimately defines your (relative) “poverty” statement, along with the large number of immigrants in the state. This cheap labor, along with other things have allowed our GDP to increase at a rate that is greater than the national average, which means we have the taxes for our expensive programs.

If you look at welfare per capita, we aren’t even in the top ten. These arguments just go in circles, which is why this forum refrains from political debates. There are far too many factors at play to point fingers.

Seems more like demographics and economics but get your point.

Anyway, it's an interesting time for the future of mass produced EV's. The Toyota/Panasonic JV will amp things up.

https://tinyurl.com/y3xwun8h

But maybe not exciting enough for most buyers given increasing ICE and hybrid efficiencies and lower gas prices.

“With EVs,” predicted Lentz, “I think it’s going to be a while” before they account for a significant share of the market. “I think we’ve overstated our belief EVs will take over the world.”

Batteries will likely improve becoming lighter, more powerful and charge faster while being more efficient and cheaper. We already have cars that have 300+ range, 80% charging in 30 minutes with great performance. We also have uktra fast charging being released any time now so 80% charging in 10-15 minutes or less. If charging gets down to five minutes, well, that is the time to fill up a gas tank, then I can’t see any excuse not to own an EV like people have now who don’t live in a place where they can charge their car at night. The savings in gas, auto repairs and maintenance would easily offset the high price car or higher monthly payment.

The real exciting thing will be to see non-luxury brands selling more EV’s. Without the other premium features the price will be better and the used car matket for EV’s might look very good.

Just found about the Piech Mark Zero. Supposedly charges to 80% in five minutes.

Exactly, in five years the market will look much different.

Kia is teaming up with Amazon to make purchasing and installing a 240V outlet easier.

Of course, reducing demand for gas will decrease the price of gas which will increase the desire for cheaper ICE cars, but government regulations to reduce emissions could offset those things. Some may not like that, but lower oil prices also mean cheaper plastics, cheaper food that rely on oil for fertilizer or production, etc.

Saw my first Model 3 in the wild today, White. OK, my opinion, but its even uglier in person and I didn't think that was possible. They really need to do something to that front end.

It's fucking hideous. I see them 10 days a week here in Fremont. Can't escape them.

Thanks for the subjective opinions fellas We have so many brands and so many models with many different colors and combination of features because of subjective opinions. I knew that, but nevertheless, I was persuaded to believe that objectively this car was perfect for everyone. Thanks for the reminder that this car will be ugly to people. I was beginning to think everyone thought it was gorgeous, but you proved me wrong and straightened me out.
