Mod list before car, anyone else?
I don't even have an FR-S yet, and it will be a few months before I will be able to make it happen, but I already have a mod list a mile long Was anyone else in the same boat before they got their cars?

Still don't have mine and I have already ordered like 6 different mods, with another mile long list. I'm a little impatient.

I am waiting until I graduate in may to purchase. Assuming I am employed of course.
Created a spreadsheet to detail mod purchase queue based on perceived satisfaction, complete with brands and expected expense. Frankly I spend too much time tailoring the mod list based on research and ft86club.com user/vendor reviews. My wife teases me about it, but I'll show her when my mistress transforms from a cyber fling with the occasional dealership meetup, to becoming a beloved member of the family. |

Before I got my FR-S, I decided on driving the car for a few months and see what I wanted to change. I did, however, have a secret list of mods that I wanted to get.
I haven't done much yet (because snow), but it started with just aesthetic mods and now i'm beginning to change the handling of the car (starting with Sways and Brake Brace)

I have full mod lists for cars I never ended up buying. So yeah, I had a mod list in mind well before I got the car. But I couldn't bring myself to buy much of anything prior to actually getting the car. I did however get wheels and tires before picking up the car because I got it in December and needed to swap off the summer tires. Now I'm just waiting until I have money again and then it's full-bore ahead on modding.

i think most people have at the very least considered what type of things they would want to do. i still think its a poor way to go about things. without the car, you cant tell what you like or dont like about it. changing things before you have that info is just like throwing money away.

This certainly isn't the first (nor will it be the last) car where I had mods sitting at my house before the car was even at the dealer. Haha. It's what us car people do!

I've had mine for a couple months now and I still can't think of anything it "needs". The suspension is good for what I use it for (mostly street driving with some autox), the tires are fine, and I haven't yet found a set of rims that look better on the car than the stock ones. I was thinking a turbo would be a ton of fun, but that's a deep money pit, and I don't want to lose the daily-drivability.

I usually make a list/plan for a car before I even consider buying one. I use it to help me decide what car to buy since modding is my passion.
With this car I already had wheels, coils and exhaust on order before the car was even delivered. |

I started a mod list before I got the car, but I was so anxious that I ended up buying a whole bunch of things before I even took delivery of the car! I had a room full of aftermarket parts for a good two months before I even had something to put them on.

I recently totaled up all the aftermarket mods, even after 30-40% off on almost every part, I'm right at $10k so far. I was expecting to spend $20k total in mods so I'm right on track. Luckily the BRZ is pretty cheap... Look at the waiting period as time to research what you plan on doing and purchase parts before the car is delivered. Its torture waiting but I kept myself occupied reading on forums and setting up the build.
