Overpipe Heat question

I’m probably over thinking this but I have a question to everyone who has the Perrin overpipe or any other unshielded overpipe. Reading F1point4’s post about the install you remove and don’t reinstall the oem heat shields. How long have you had your overpipe installed and has heat dissipation been an issue without the oem heat shields? Any evidence of overheating on nearby parts? Thanks

I would not think it's going to be an issue. On WRX's a similar pipe is replaced, the uppipe, and the heat shields are removed and there are no issues. On the BRZ, if you're doing the overpipe, you're also doing the front pipe and cat-back as well. With the front pipe swapped out, you would be moving from a restrictive OEM cat to either a race pipe or high-flow cat. Since both flow better than stock, there should be less heat build up in the exhaust since it is freer flowing.

If you are really concerned about it, you could always wrap the overpipe or send it out to get ceramic coated.

Anyone else have more experience or info on this? I'm considering the Perrin overpipe but a bit concerned about removing the heat shielding, like the OP.

I mount mine in the morning..I'll let you know but I seriously doubt any issues at all. The guys at Perrin know their shit and do their research.

i didn't have enough time to have my Perrin over pipe ceremic coat done before xmas so i decided to install it as is. I have used some DEI heat tape and applied them to the surrounding area (eg. chassis, sway bar, subframe etc) and hope it will be ok.
