Makes my blood boil.
There are exceptions to leaving a pet in the car, though. I'm not sure about other makes, but the Toyota Smart Entry/Smart Start system like on a 10 Series allows the driver to exit the car with everything running and then lock the doors with the metal key embedded in the fob. I've done it on a Prius. When I came out of the store, some woman was ready to break out a window to "save" my dog that she thought was in distress. He was just excited to have someone talking to him through the closed window. I understood her confusion, it was a hot day and the car was silent with it's electrically driven HVAC system. I thanked her for watching out for situations like that after she dropped the rock. |

Disagree. You should never leave a pet or a child unattended in a car under any circumstances. Plan your stuff out or don't take your pet with you.

My dogs can't drive or accidentally knock the car into gear, and the alarm would sound if a window were broken and/or door opened without the key. I'm never more than 50' away. I've done this since the first Toyota Smart Entry car I owned in 2004 and it's worked well for brief stops at the farmer's market and post office while my dogs relax in air conditioned comfort. For other stops without service dog restrictions like Home Depot where everyone knows him, he goes in with me. |

I actually once decided to wait in the car for about 5-10 minutes in a car that had been sitting in the sun all day with the windows up and everything... it was seriously hot and I at least had the choice of getting out if I wanted to. I don't know how many of you guys have done this (either by choice or just waiting) but a fully closed up car without any air circulation and leather seats... just... hot.

This is why we have a cat. Dogs may as well be children with all the upkeep.

i know in this video, these poeple might be actors, but it still show the point of leaving something that live into a closed car is VERY dangerous.
when i was younger i leaved a plastic car toy in the car of my uncle and at the end of the day, the car was melted...just to let poeple know. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnU9uvRe4GA"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnU9uvRe4GA[/ame] |

It's a shame there are tons of cretins out there that don't know this.

A dog is the only thing that'll love you more than itself.
