200+ WHP Naturally Aspirated on 91 Octane

Greetings All,

Most of you remember when we broke 200whp on a completely stock brz with E85. If not, see thread here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55591

Well, we've done it again. This time around we've hit 200whp with 91 Octane on a Naturally Aspirated BRZ with a stock engine. Mods included were a JDL UEL Header, JDL Over Pipe, and JDL Front Pipe. There may or may not have been a drop in filter or intake on this particular brz, I'm not entirely sure.

First I'll show the graph from Bill's BRZ, which made 200whp on a Dynojet on E85 and just a few hours later ran on this dyno:

Our dyno reads a bit low as you can tell, however this was the same vehicle on the same day, just a different dyno. A baseline run is shown for gains.

Now, here is the BRZ on 91 Octane with the JDL Exhaust on the same Mustang:

Nearly the same numbers, this car on 91 would edge out just over 200whp on the same Dynojet that Bill's personal vehicle ran on, which belongs to DSPORT. The best part about this one is that the torque dip is GONE, compared to the stock car on an E85 tune.

Hope you all enjoy the numbers!

Yet another JDL UEL pushing 200 WHP, very nice. These kinds of posts make me so glad I went with their header.

I really need to dyno mine as I'm on 93 octane with a JDL UEL, JDL overpipe, Invidia catted front pipe, and Invidia N1. I want to get 200 as well.

I'm waiting for an opportunity to put my car on a dynojet. I've got full Nameless exhaust sans midpipe and I also run 93. I've already put down 177whp prior to any tuning on a Mustang dyno, which according to the OP's graph, should be just over 200whp on a dynojet. With my tuning now done I expect the numbers to obviously go higher, perhaps 205-210whp. That would be nice.

Looks close to what nelsmar managed to do to a car in late December on a car with the exact same mods.

Glad to see someone else pull it off, as certain detractors doubted the veracity of 200 whp on 91 octane on a Mustang despite proof.

Now we've got an independent repeat. Excellent!

Edit: wait a minute... You're saying 200 whp on a Dynojet. Darn it. It's doable on a Mustang on 91 octane.

On phone I am. Therefore, if mistakes I make, Frank Oz blame you should.

Stock catback as far as I know, I wasn't there when this one was tuned. The catbacks really don't make a difference on these cars other than sound. Keep in mind that this Mustang is absolutely uncorrected, and is quite the heartbreaker. We've made more on the FR-S race car with 98 octane on this dyno, and that motor has cams, but I'm not at will to publish that dyno quite yet. Let's just say by the time it's ready you all will be quite impressed. 200whp NA on 91, on an uncorrected Mustang is going to be quite the feat.

Sincerely,

Zach

Awesome to hear. Especially since I was already planning to keep the stock exhaust too for stealth/incog'ness.

I'll personally be going back to the stock catback because I can't stand the drone of the Invidia N1 on there.

Sincerely,

Zach

How is this 200 HP?? Looks like both runs are in the 175 ballpark. Are you insinuating that it would be 200 HP on a DynoJet or at the Crank?

Chad, if you reference the link at the beginning of the post, you'll see Bill's car making the 200whp run on the DSPORT dynojet. The first graph on this post is the same car on the same map, running on this mustang dyno just several hours later on the same exact day. The second number is a customer brz on 91 octane with a jdl header on our mustang dyno putting down nearly the same power that bill's car is on the first graph. If that isn't a solid enough reference as to what Dynojet numbers are, I don't know what is.

Sincerely,

Zach
