Hmmmm... that was the first thing that came to mind when I asked you.

I am going to give straight up advice. Even if she never gave you the impression that she's close to her family, she has every right to be insulted that you didn't consider the possibility. Doubling down and dismissing her objection easily would be the final straw.

If you care about the relationship, take this as a teaching moment. If you can accept the err in judgement, tell her. Both of you deserve it.

She never mentioned that she was 100% firm on family stuff over Christmas. The only indication she gave was "will you join my family for dinner on Christmas."

She moved to England for 1.5 years with her ex. I figured one week out of her 3 off from school wouldn't be a huge deal. Boy was I wrong.

Ever ridden a motocross bike? Serious question. I grew up riding. Even did some real racing. I'm shopping for you to entertain myself. I'm thinking of getting back in to the over-the-hill class myself.
