Interesting. Mine wasn't replaced back in July 2013 when my airbag went off. But there were barely instructions for the repair back then lol.

For OP, mine drives fine after a front and rear end collision and repair. Both over $10K in damages.

For 13 grand, you can buy a used but stock 13/14 with a few miles on it. I'd do that, then take the parts you want to keep from the PP like the wheels, brakes and suspension, and swap them between the cars. Then sell the wreck for a couple bucks to cover tax and registration, etc and end up with a car that is 9/10ths of the PP but it won't have been in a wreck so you can get more for it when it comes time to sell and move on. I regret that I'm basically married to my car now because I'll never be able to get what it's worth because it's been in an accident and fixed.

I may have missed it, but what if the car isn't paid off? He'll then have two car loans assuming he doesn't have 13k just sitting around.

Him not having collision coverage means it is paid off, or at least should be paid off he may have just canceled it and hoped to not get caught and that is why he is fixing the car.

I think the word you're looking for is illegal?

Illegal and against a contract aren't quite the same.

Maybe he "financed" through his parents? Maybe it's on a savings secured loan? Works at a dealership and the business carried the note? Lots of possibilities.

I bought a used car on my shops cash account. It was only $2000, not 20,000, but you never know.

And agreed, terrible decision.

While I agree that the OP was foolish to not have full coverage insurance on this car... the comments above are why Tcoat mentioned earlier in this thread that the OP should have posted in his original thread. The discussion about the OP’s insurance situation was already discussed ad nauseam in the original thread.

Man this is a hard call. Since you still have a loan on it. Will you be taking out an additional loan to fix it up? Or can the repairs be covered in full?

Because the internet never discusses things ad nauseam multiple times?

It's been established here that once information is created, it becomes that-which-shall-not-be-named, but everyone is expected to know it.

That looks reasonable. Hope that there isn't anything more that needs fixing. Looks like you have no choice.
