I have 2017 brz and i have my whole exhaust setup planned but i wanna wait till school is over next year so i start working on it. However, i do want more sound from my car so i was wondering about doing a muffler and 2nd cat delete. My local shop does an amazing job and said he will delete the 2nd cat and the muffler and put in new tips for $180 total. Worth it or wait it out till next year? Btw would there be any rasp from doing this? Thanks for the help!

You could probably find something online for that price. Spec d catback sells for like 150$ used (mine did).

Or a catless front pipe should/could be cheap. The one I initially had was 150$.

There are better options than cutting it up imo.

I see. Well since im getting a catless front pipe technically and muffler delete so i thought 180 wasnt that bad, plus even though I'll be 'cutting it up' ill replace the entire exhaust with quality brands (invidia, jdl) in a few months. But thanks! Ill check out the catback you mentioned.

If you're going to be replacing the entire thing in a few months, make the smart financial decision and leave it stock until then. Don't put money into it just to change it up a few months later.

Your bold statement..might rethink that.

Avoid the Invidia N1. Do yourself a favor and get a @Dezod Motorsports catback. You'll appreciate it. Your neighbors will appreciate it. And you can use a rear diffuser.

If you're deadset on a canister type exhaust...GReddy Evo GT or MXP comp.

Don't run a muffler delete, it's going to end up sounding like ass, being extremely loud with little to show for it, and it's going to suck to drive. It will absolutely be raspy, and it will alternatively annoy the people around you or make them think you're a dumbass.

Also, if you're going to replace the entire exhaust in a few months it's silly to mess with it right now. Just save the money and put into your future plans so you can get something even nicer.

Appreciate the replies. I was looking at the short term gains but after everyone saying no, ill just save my money for the real thing haha. Thanks!

A catback will get you a big fat doughnut in terms of gains.

For any real gains you'll need headers and most importantly a tune.

Shit, a tune on the stock car will get you more power than the catback would by itself.

A proper Stage 1 tune will net you quite a bit of benefit over just randomly tossing parts on. If you want noise, exhaust is a benefit but it gets old fast, especially with parts that are not paired accordingly.

If you want any sort of gains it's best to work front to back with the exhaust. Header -> front pipe -> catback. Even then, you would need a tune to realize the gains.

Thanks! Thats what im planning on doing! JDL catless ceramic coated headers with a resonated catless front pipe and invidia n1. And a tune from the OFT

I would recommend starting with the header and skip the FP and go straight to a catback or axleback. You want at least 1 cat in the system.
