Made this for the backup camera because I didn't want to drill a hole.

Not sure where to mount the front camera also because of my Grimspeed plate holder. Saw a DIY forum post of how to take off the front bumper and it seemed like it was going to take alot more time than the back up camera install.

Nice and low profile.

The two guidelines look like they belong together, too!

Yeah. I have a flash forge. Make some cool things for the brz/frs. Necessity is the mother of invention right? Www.gt86mounts.com

Bought this camera before reading the full post. I am disappointed it is 12v powered. How come you didn't power it off of a reverse lamp?

Awesome idea OP, I like how the cam is centered on your car and lower to the ground.

Here's an option for those that do not want to drill...at the expense of your trunk keyhole. You will need to remove the key barrel and I also removed\tucked away the switch that disables the electronic trunk opening mechanism to be safe. These cams sell for between $1 shipped to $30 shipped on ebay. You just need to look around. I found them for $1 and bought like 5 of them to have backups.

They need to look like this:

So I looked back at my thread about using the camera input as an aux input and I remember why this won't work. On startup the headunit looks for a video signal. If there isn't one then the reverse cam mode is disabled (so the screen doesn't just go blank every time you are in reverse).

So I guess the camera will be "always on".

If it wears out prematurely it isn't a big deal since it was only $30.

You can probably rig up a harness with relays that can flop the input source from one cam to the other when the reverse signal is present.
