So that BMW feels like sh!t but does this well on a track? Something is not adding up.

Thunderhill laptime:
BMW: 2:12.5
Mustang: 2:12.6
FR-S: 2:20.3

I know everyone is going to spout tires but I seriously doubt tires will take 8 seconds off the FR-S lap time.
I already posted above that Michelin PSS tires in Toyobaru OEM size knock ~4 seconds off, given that the BMW and Mustang both have wheels in the ~9" wide range on the rear end compared to the 86's 7" you can get mighty close with a wheel/tire upgrade alone.

Watch the track video, Thunderhill is not a track that favors the corner carvers. Cars that have the power to accelerate at ease over 80 mph can hit 120+ before braking into turn one with little effort, while a Toyobaru will only break 110 in capable hands (see video). I only hit 108 with a whole day's worth of trying.

And all of that is irrelevant if you don't have the skills to back it up. Lots of people show up to HPDE's and struggle to get within 10 seconds of the magazine times.

The Mustang 2.3t sounds like my G35 S(around the same weight 3580lbs) which I hated the feel of. I can't believe BMW messed up the lightest offering they have in a coupe...lmao. I think TORQUE is the only downfall for the FR-S. I think if they were to make a FA25 with 245hp/185-189tq with only a weight gain of 25lbs then that would be the FR-S to have as I prefer N/A.

You add torque then you add beefier axles and beefier brakes and chassis bracing and wider wheels and a bigger radiator and soon you have added 100 lbs. I am pretty happy with how the car is.

You can do tires and JRSC + Oil Cooler + Tune for $9K, so it'd be pretty formidable.

If I had to sum it up, I'd say what isn't adding up is the better car depends on what you care about.

I'm not racing anyone so lap times literally mean nothing to me. It doesn't matter what I drive, someone has a car that will have a faster lap time. If I do care about lap times, its about can I get my lap time better, not am I better than someone else. So, take lap times out of the picture and which car out of these three is more fun to drive, which in the end is all I care about?

To me, it would be the 86, for all the reasons mentioned in the article. Now don't get me wrong I would take any of the three (well, I would probably just sell the BMW to buy something else)

In the end, I'd rather drive the car that lets me drive on the edge, put a smile on my face and make me work a little for the reward.

Torque means nothing if you don't have RPM. Torque and RPM = power.

Edmunds found the N20 made 240hp at the wheels. BMW says 240hp at the crank and just like the 335i, they've underrated the 228i.
