Ok so I spent my entire day reading this thread since post 1. While I have learned a GREAT DEAL of information regarding the OFT and editing programs such as RomRaider, TunerPro ect, I would like to learn more about editing roms and tuning in general. I have a OFT with all the supportive programs loaded on my laptop and would like to start off simply by lowering the LC RPM that the stage 2 EL tune comes preprogrammed with. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try this thread:

The way I understand it is, there is a romraider parameter for launch control RPM delta, the bigger the delta the lower the RPM that is held for LC (i've never fiddled with it and its set at 2000, 7500redline-2000= 5500rpm LC)

So if I have OFT and in the future i decide to boost I should get a kit without a Ecutek and find a tuner that can tune with with ROMRaider?

If I have that correct, is anyone doing that?

How much of difference does OFT make with a completely stock car? I really am trying to hold off from modding this car but it seems like this might be a really good choice. I am just not sure.

Peak power gains will be 5-10whp with less top end power roll-off. But there are some pretty big torque gains in the important 2500-3500rpm range. Enough to immediately notice during normal driving. Most customers comment on how much more responsive and smoother the engine is with the OFT tune. No BRZ/FRS has ever returned one (and nearly 2000 sold) so it must be worthwhile

Cheers,
shiv

I recently got the OFT + Crawford BPBs and love it. I'm running Stage 1 for 93 octane and the extra power below 4000rpm makes the car so much more enjoyable and easy to drive.

Shiv,

Is the Timing advanced parameter the only determination of the gains to be had with respect to the big torque gains in the 2500-3500 rpm range?

Reason I ask is because I have knock events occur within those ranges and have pulled timing back to compensate for this.

This is a comparison of Stage 2 UEL modified vs Stage 2 UEL Stock:

Would the amount of timing pulled as shown in that image be detrimental to these gains or significant decrease?

I have also noticed that the Stage 1 Stock map vs Stage 2 UEL stock map indicates there is really only timing advanced in the 6400-7450RPM, is there a reason why there isn't more timing Advanced in regions prior to this, apart from the 4800 rpm range?

Thanks.

So no tunes for Jackson Racing or Kraftwerks SC kits? Only Vortech?

OFT uses stock roms tuned. ecutek changes actual algorithms so it can do things like hijack a sensor and repurpose an input for a boost sensor. At some point there will likely be a programmer who open sources a similar ability but that will take time. Meanwhile, you can run a supercharger with OFT. Since superchargers are predictable on boost, there is no need for a boost sensor. Any good tuner can use romraider or similar to tune a twin with a supercharger. I bet someday soon, OFT will release a version with a piggyback so you can run oft with a turbo. Shiv has done similar things for years.

Only one correction, the OFT also has custom code - launch control and FFS is not OEM.

93? Is this only for bpb tune?
Can't wait for 93 tune and open flash header to arrive. Also would like lc support for my ROM version
