Last year I was well off the pace specially at VIR. What kind of alignment are you running? Mine is at -3 camber at all four corners with zero toe.

Mike
Yeah, I'm probably going to be sticking to 93 as well. As for VIR, I only managed a 2:22, but there was a fair amount of traffic. When I checked the app I was using for lap times, I had an optimal (combining best sector times) of 2:19 on street tires, so I think with Hoosiers it should be possible, but it definitely won't be easy. I've got some ideas on free (points wise) mods that should help. I'm looking at getting stiffer springs for my coilovers (probably around 450lbs. instead of the 343lbs. that came with the kit), lighter clutch/flywheel, CF driveshaft, and perhaps a 4.55 final drive. All depends on how much money I can free up during this winter.

For my alignment, I'm currently at -2.7 in the front, -1.8 in the back with a very slight toe in in the rear if I remember correctly. Are you using different rear LCA's to get that much camber? I was told that -1.8 was about all that could be gotten out of the rear's by the alignment shop I went to.

You are much fast at VIR than me. It was my first experience with the R6 there and I couldnt manage a fast lap. I think I was loosing time the entire front half of the track to the oak tree. I need practice there for sure.

With the drop in the rear, the camber was -3, I dont have LCA's. I am running 8k front and 9k rear springs. I am thinking of going even stiffer.

All those mods are gonna be great, I really want to do the FD, I think that will really change the character of the car.

I was at my speed limiter for a large portion of the strait, and was over braking coming into a couple of the turns. Other guys with stock engines were runing 2:11-2:13. Got some room for improvement for sure.

First event of the year and first time on the nice new pavement at VIR. That definitely helped my time as the track was very grippy in the dry and a few of the corners were widened slightly. The car definitely has a 2:18 and probably a 2:17 in it in its current form, but 2:19 would have been good enough to win TTD this weekend so I'm pretty happy with it. Next time I come back I should be competing in NASA's TT with Hoosiers, so I imagine the time ought to drop significantly.

@smbstyle John Miller has you beat by a lot, but he's a ridiculously amazing driver.

@ja1217 Nice, over 3 seconds off your old time.

Oh yes, well aware, which is also why he's currently racing in the IMSA Continental series ST class... however the Hoosier A6's and E85 tune definitely help!

VIR Full/2.24.02/Dan/15 MAR 2014/Yokohama AD08R tires in 225/40/17; Hawk DTC-60 race pads; Castrol SRF brake fluid (stock alignment); Harry's LapTimer

First time back at VIR in three years. Very satisfied with the cars performance in nearly stock condition. Surprised quite a few Pcars...

NJMP Thunderbolt/1.37.79/Dan/23 MAR 2014/Yokohama AD08R tires in 225/40/17; Hawk DTC-60 race pads; Castrol SRF brake fluid (stock alignment); Harry's LapTimer

This was the first time I was able to compare times directly with my former e46 M3. The M3 was slightly enhanced including Ohlins R&T suspension, PFC rotors and 08 pads, and nearly the same tire (Yoko AD08 in 285/35/18). I was 0.76 seconds off my best time in that car. Very very impressed with the FRS, and once again so were a few Pcar guys. (I mostly run with various PCA clubs in white group.)

How do you feel about the PFC 08 versus the DTC-60? Wear? Bite? Usability? I know they're different platforms, but now that PFC 08 are available for the FR-S, I'm curious.

The VIR times were quite a bit off the fastest NA time, but your Thunderbolt time is on the list now. I accidentally had a FI time listed as NA. Been fixed.

Initial bite is about the same, modulation is more consistent on the 08, and wear was much better on the 08 as well. I'm down to the backing plate on my front DTC's after only three events. The 08's used to last at least four to five events and that was on a much heavier car. The wear was even front to rear. On this car, the rear pads still have three quarters while the fronts are dead. There seemed to be more pad material on the 08's from what I remember. I never had any issues with fade on the 08's, but the DTC's seem to give a bit towards the end of a 25-30 min session.

I also ran Pagid RS-29 before the 08's. Another excellent pad and I remember preferring it to the PFC. They're also available for our cars but only for the front, and have to be special ordered.

Where are you finding the 08's? Both front and rear? I searched a few weeks ago and couldn't find anything so ended up with another pair of DTC fronts because I needed them within a few days. They're definitely less expensive than Pagid and probably PFC, but I'll alway pay more for a great pad. Any fade on a race pad is disconcerting. Have to always keep that in mind with the Hawks.

Front 0929.08.17.44

Rear 1124.08.16.44

Steve Wu at OG Racing has the best price that I could find. The other sites I contacted were totally clueless on it. OG Racing is also an authorized dealer so you can warranty support if there's an issue. The first number is shape. The second is compound. The third is mm thickness, and the fourth means they're not pre-bedded. I'm going to re-post this elsewhere. Pass it on.
