You won't notice that dip that much unless you have driven a car with a meaty torque curve.
If you come from a car that you have to wring out, then you are used to it and like it
I jump from vehicle to vehicle all the time. They're all different. Jumping from a diesel truck to any car I own you'll notice a lack of torque lol

Even my Nismo Juke has more torque. It doesn't make it any better, it's just a different drive. I like the Juke for city driving but it sucks on the highway. I prefer the FR-S over all of the other cars I have access to. Go figure...

Wtf what's this issue with merging? I'm already doing 140 when I'm merging. It's an on ramp. Recommended speed is let's say 60 kmh. You're in a twin, so you can reliably do 90. Then you have like 200 meters to speed up.

Apparently in Cali they are ramp deficient.

If you ever come visit socal. I'll show you all the ones where the most accidents happen.
I know it's hard to believe. When I first started using these on ramps I was shocked af. Then I saw how traffic had to lock up their brakes. Ever wonder why California drivers love to hog the left lane? There's your answer. Right lane might get you into an accident. So then they just get used to driving on the left so they do it everywhere. Sad sad.

That has nothing to do with the ability to accelerate though. That is just a shit ton of traffic.

Having to keep revs up in order to accelerate in the BRZ doesn't bother me, and neither does the "torque dip". If I need to *really* accelerate, I am nowhere near the dip anyway. I only find myself in the "dip" rpm range while I'm at ~50% throttle or less. And in that context it's really not a big deal.
I can see that if someone regularly had to all of a sudden accelerate hard *immediately* and it wasn't foreseen, that they could be frustrated. But I seem to always know well in advance and upshift accordingly...
Yeah man this is what I've been saying since the beginning.
You notice the dip when you have driven torquey vehicles. Whether you find it annoying or not is up to the person.
But people choose to get triggered fast when they don't even understand what I'm trying to say.

He noticed the dip because he read about it and saw the dyno that makes it look horrible. He would have "noticed" it even if it didn't exist because he was looking for it.
That damn dyno is so incredibly deceiving since it doesn't show duration. Under heavy acceleration it is a 10% drop for a fraction of a second. It is not this total loss of torque for several seconds that people represent it to be.

Appreciate you understanding what I've been saying. You notice the lack of lower end torque in the twins after driving other vehicles with a different power band. Some people like it which is cool, but I was warning the op incase he didn't since he comes from a truck.

I've been there. Thing is, there's a lot of places like this.

Things are getting way off topic though and the OP has likely had enough.

Pretty sure he bought the Mazda already but we are not off topic since the dip is right there in the title.

Apparently, it seems, there is alot of people without, basic motor skills, or, the ability to comprehend the characteristics of a economy 2lt NA.

I wonder if they can walk without bumping into walls or other people? I suspect not!

Thank god they don't own a FA20 Impeza, with only 115kw and 196Nm, they would never be able to leave the driveway.

Opinions may vary
