My car is up and running with the reimax pump gears.
I will try and get some numbers when i go back onshore.

Why should they keep their fix secret? I think it would be most positive to post the solution and proove their skills. There are a lot of people here that would acknowledge that. That would also help the reputation of the FA20 being a not so bad engine to get past 400HP!

Because if they release the info then every half assed engine builder out there will copy it. There's no secret sauce to this stuff, they just went through the trial and error to find the right combination. That trial and error likely cost them a ton of money and time.

Yeah I'm still interested too. Seriously considering getting forged pistons and rods soon so while the engine is out I guess it would make sense to do the reimax gear at the same time if its actually going to help at all, but I don't want to bother doing it if it'll make no difference

Well, 3 weeks ago my car shut off while idling. 2 cranks and the battery died. Subaru had the car at a dealership 75 miles away and we just rescued it on Saturday as Subaru is currently refusing to work on it (SoA. The dealership wants to get the car fixed).

Anyway, when we were picking it up at the dealership, they told us to fire it up and it sounds like a spun bearing. I'm not sure if this was an inherent oiling issue, but we are most likely going to tear the block down in two weeks unless the dealership convinces Subaru to cover it (the service manager is still working on it).

If we do end up rebuilding the block, are there any suggestions you have for it while we have it apart? I'm thinking better valve springs wouldn't hurt if they can be sourced. I know a cam shaft probably still isn't available. Anything that would help the motor survive?

If you need a rebuild I suggest the following:

West coast: Outfront Motorsports
East coast: Element Tuning
Central: Accelerated Performance

I have spoke to all 3 of these shops and they are top notch...

Good luck

There are multiple valve springs available. I used shelf units on mine well over a year ago... And there are multiple cam setups available right now that can use stock springs or more aggressive cams for cars that have a more aggressive head setup...

I haven't really been watching the forums for several months now and last I heard, there were some new springs, but cams would have to be custom ground. I don't want to go crazy (a junkyard motor right now feels tough on the wallet) but if there are reasonable upgrades that can be done NA that make sense to do (like a profile that safely revs and actually makes power to 8,000rpm) I think it would be nice to do while the motor is apart.

About 15 minutes I got the call. Subaru will pay to have the motor disassembled at any dealer of my choice (since the car is now sitting back in my driveway) to the point of failure to determine what happened. Then they will send out their engineer and tech to determine if they will fix the issue. The problem is, they just did this to the STI they looked at and denied the warranty so that car is sitting with a disassembled motor that's in pieces. They will not pay to put it back together if it is not covered under warranty and after the way SoA has continually jerked me around, this is my fear for my car.
