I havent quite finished yet, but I believe I know what you're referring to.

I got a subscription to CR and have been watching various series mixed in with Hunter x Hunter since that's a longer series.

Tried watching War on Titan. Boring.
Darling in the FranXX. My friend helped me understand what "fan service" is thanks to this show. I watched 1.5 episodes. Might carry on. I dunno.
I kinda wanna go back and watch OG Voltron and Robotech. Especially Robotech.
But One Punch Man is sweet.

How far did you get? The first few episodes of the first season are not indicative of the overall action and pace of the show. IMO, it gets better as the show progesses

Who loves here jojo? I can't watch Diamond Is Unbreakable. It's so... Don't even know. I'm now on 8th ep. Is this season skipable or it's gonna be something cool?

I got to a bit after they have the first battle and the main character gets his foot bitten off. Learned the backstory of the Asian girl.

Personally, I think you should give it another chance and at least finish the whole first season before writing it off as "boring". Its hard to articulate why without spoilers though. All I can say is that it gets more "action-y" from there.

I've heard a few different criticisms of AoT, but never heard anyone call it "boring" before so I'm just a little confused lol. But taste is subjective, I guess. If Eren getting his foot bitten off in his first real battle didn't make you curious about where the show is going, maybe we just have different tastes. Glad you found something you liked in OPM though!

"Oh look, a twist," I muttered to myself tiredly.

My favorite anime is Castle of Cagliostro, if that means anything to you. I probably watched that 10 times.

I've actually never watched any Lupin III despite knowing I would almost certainly like it. Especially CoG since it's the first movie Miyazaki directed. But, its just a little hard to get past 70's animation when I don't have any nostalgia for it. CoG came out in 1979, I wasn't born for another 14 years lol.

Currently re-watching some of my favorite arcs in Naruto, along with watching Akame Ga Kill. Plus I'm in the midst of collecting all of the monogatari series.. Damn Aniplex with their beautiful artwork but extremely expensive price tags.

I didn't realize Miyazaki directed Caglostro. That explains a lot.

As for 70s animation, whatevs. The 3D animation of all these current shows just feels like a copout. Especially when they move mountains to avoid any actual animation in a scene. Speedlines galore.

I know what you mean about the 3D stuff. Attack on Titan has a bit of that and its hit or miss for me. There are times when I think it nicely adds a bit of depth to a scene, and there are others where it just feels like clashing art styles.

It's not that I mind the 3D art. It's that they use it instead of doing actual good animation. One reason I love Akira so much is the amazing visual craftsmanship in it. There's not a frame that wasn't lovingly filled with detail. If you have to pump out a bunch of episodes cheap, 3D helps. If you have to make a blockbuster that's obviously 3D animated, go for it. If you want to make a 2D animated movie, do it right. Do it by hand, frame by frame, on cells or 2D computer. Just draw it.
