RaceRom is what EcuTek calls their custom code.

Everyone using EcuTek is using RaceRom, the more advanced RaceRom features are not free thats all!

...that's something I never understood the software lock.

I guess the going price is $950 for everything. I wouldn't understand getting one of these without getting it all so...

This is a great move by Ecutek. $950 for what it can do is a pretty solid deal. Flat-shift and launch control are something I personally want in a software mapper. The programming use of the CC stick is the coolest thing!

Looks like I now know what I will be saving up for after Christmas season

Just glad that it's FINALLY here! ...seriously thought the Ecutek guys were going to lock this forever. Would be a shame.

The free software comes with everything except map switching and custom maps..

I suggest everyone take a min and look at what ecutek is giving you access to before upgrading!

Got my answer: no - because they involve some custom table logic, and the tuner based tunes are keyed, they are not editable by the end user. You are able to do this with ROMs that are self created, or non-keyed it seems.
I am able to edit mine. There is a screen where you can select who has visibility, 3rd tab along IIRC.

@hmong337 as JV said, you can do most things on the basic setup. Unless you're wanting to run FI, I can't see the need to upgrade. Map switching would be nice on the basic package though.

@Deadspool I assume you know how to add the functionality of FFS/LC etc to your base map?

Pro version gets:
- custom maps
- speed density
- map switching
- load limit increase

I'd suggest anyone with FI go immediately to the pro version, as you'll want custom maps and maybe the sd/load limit increase. You can tune an FI car without it but it's so much easier (and safer) with custom maps that it's worth the price of the upgrade a dozen times over.

Most NA cars wont need the pro version. Pro is as stated above for custom maps and other misc bits. EcuTek basically changed the name of their products... they split racerom into two bits. There is now the free version that has the majority of race rom features that everyone was using. And then the advanced feature set that is more used as a tuner, not an end user who just wants to turn on flat foot shifting etc. The advanced features allow the ability to program complex maps.

I picked up the racerom from @Visconti (damn good price) and it was already active when I checked this morning, im updating right now. Can't wait to tinker with it!! Never though I would be purchasing through him again but apparently he has gotten a lot better at turn around times. Big thumbs up.

John, what is the difference between Knock Learn and ICC? I always assumed the KL value was just that. Also, If ICF shows knock events, what's the difference between that and Knock Correction?

Well having four maps to toggle between is a big deal to me. 91 oct map, 94 map, eco map, and a race map. There's no doubt that if you're FI or planning to FI, the racerom upgrade is the only way to go. Different maps for different boost pressures.

one point to note is for those of us on a regular windows XP laptop you can greatly speed up a ECU reprogramme by going through a USB expansion hub - not sure why but it about halves the download time

It depends on if you can get an unlocked map. It seems the features are attached to the map rather than the software. I've just been sent a new map update from my tuner and I can change any of the parameters he has enabled This includes number of selectable maps, variable throttle maps etc. I don't, however, have the ability to add any RaceROM features that he hasn't already included like Custom maps and SD etc.

I'm very impressed so far even if I will only make small changes.

the killer app for the pro version is custom maps. you want that if you're going fi. you also want the load limit increase and sd.

even if i wasn't turbo i'd get the racerom for the custom maps alone.
