They (Chev) sell for $10k to $15k here. They not even 5yrs old! If anyone can afford them, then resale value is crud imo. I'm the one against the status quo here. I have my FR-S. Slow but not riced out with an exhaust as loud as a agriculture tractor. Concerning BMW's, only see about 3-4 a week. All big family sedans. Sell here for approx $20k to 40k. Tried buying M5(?) in 2013, dude wanted $30k and it had almost 200k! LOL

But with a current price of nearly $100k for an M5, adjust that for inflation, you were looking at a $30k 200k mile car that's lost 70+% of it's value. That owner is losing at least $50k inflation adjusted owning that car for X number of years selling it to you for $30k. Assuming you were looking at an E60 which retailed for >$90k new in 2005, that's a $7.5k loss per year on the value of that car in 2013, not including maintenance costs for keeping it in good shape for 200k miles! There are quite a few M5's for <$20k as I was looking this morning, a couple in the $9k region even, just depends on your criteria. I'd rock this if it passed an inspection from a guy a trust: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/5449172991.html You're telling me, you'd pick a >$70k car (the M4) and happily sell it 5 years later for ~40k, eating >$30k in losses over buying a ~$35k car (SS) and selling it 5 years later for $20k losing $15k in order to be financially conservative? Fucking lol. |

Yea, I went and looked in my area after quoting Motor Trend. They are in the 90s here but most of those are convertibles. All for something that to me just says "201x generic automobile" in terms of styling.

And now that they've gone away from truly special engines I can't fathom buying one even if they were significantly cheaper. The M division has gone from making homologation specials (which is awesome) to making comfortable if boring looking cruisers with serious sporting credentials and amazing bespoke engines (which is also awesome), to now making pretty boring and character devoid power trains in boring and character devoid cars. The styling of the E60 M5 was a a miss in my opinion, but when I test drove one that engine broke my brain.

The 350r isn't in the same category, not only in price but in the reason for vehicle design. The 350r is suppose to be the "track" version while the Camaro SS is not. Also the Camaro SS can be had for around 35k Base. There is one at my local dealership for 38k on a base model. Which is markup for being the new car. The 350r at my local dealership is already sold.(Still sits on the showroom floor) went for almost 70k while it should've been 60kish. The zl1 Camaro is a better comparison for it while still no being a track car. If I had to choose between my 60k "American Muscle" car I would be choosing the one that screams America and has 4 doors and 700+hp.

Yeah BMW has lost that "BMW" clout around it. They have followed the way of Benz in making big GT cruisers or uber-bargers (grant all have amazing capabilities for what they are) but at the end of the day.... there still big GT cruisers & uber-bargers
The only current BMW's thats worth buying for the sake of saying "I have a BMW" is the M2 and even that is a watered down version of the 1M If I just had cash to burn through I'd walk straight past a F80/F32 M3/4 or F10 M5 and go straight into getting a E30 M3, 1M or E60 M5 (purely for that absurd V10 engine) due to what those cars represented and their uniqueness in the BMW family tree

Its unfortunate the Camaro is so ugly. I'm still a sucker for beautiful looking cars, but its the inside that counts right..?

I love the new front of the Camaro, it genuinely looks like it wants to hurt you, the rear.... The M4 is a nicer package but the front is to busy in my opinion while the rear could use some work... now the M2 on the other hand , baring the door mirrors (first mod I'd do) the exterior is perfect

Dunno where you came up with that, because the MSRP for an M4 is $65,700.
