If so, I highly recommend just buying 17x8.5" +42 for all four corners and adding spacers on the rear if necessary. At least this way you can still rotate your wheel/tires from front to rear to minimize wear.
They're not staggered, theyre 17x8.5 square but just different offsets.
Spacers are illegal here and I've heard some bad things about them so I've decided to deal with crappy rotations and/or pulling off the tyre from the wheel for rotations.
Thank you very much for your reply though!

I will have mine back with tires mounted in a few days, same size too 245/35R18 in a Conti Extreme Contact DW.

As for fitment, I was pretty surprised when I initially test-fitted the wheels, not so much because of the fitment calculator but because there seems to be many others running with this wheel width (both in 17 and 18") and a +35 offset.

The camber/crash bolt makes a difference and so will springs as well. The H&R's should give you more camber than the ProKit I am going with.

It's hard to judge where it will all end up, but I think I'll be okay which is why I ordered the 245s after the test-fitting.

I'm going to order them from Zoeb probably on Monday, but I will wait if youre throwing up some pics since we will be really similar in our setups. Plus i cant wait to see your new setup.

I'll just be patient and keep an eye out for your post.

Im also hung up on what tires to buy for the Portland area. It rains here constantly, so i need something all-purpose, but still something I can rip the wheel and get solid response.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I'll post some pics within a few days.

TireRack has the Continental Extreme Contact DW on sale right now. $170 for the 245/35R18. Reviews are great on this tire and they excel in the rain.

I'll be needing them for street and track, so I was pretty picky on my tire choice and that is what I ended up selecting.

@eddieEndo you might be interested in this from one of the tuners here in NZ. they are running a similar setup to you and explain their resaoning and tyres they are using. At this will be helpful rather than arguing over terminology.

This is their quote:
"Our new shoes arrived for Project 86 today. 8 weeks was a long time to wait! Got 2 sets of Enkei Raijins (one set will be street with Nitto Invo's, the other are for track with Nitto NT01's).

We went with a staggered fitment of 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 with 225/40 and 245/40. Staggered fitment on the 86 is a controversial choice so I will explain our decision.

After several track sessions we find the natural handling balance a little too loose (tail happy). It's fun, but slows the car, particularly out of low speed corners. We are hoping the staggered fitment will neutralise the handling balance. I guess we will have to wait and see if we were right"

Hope this helps.

Apparently they decided in the end to go 8.5" with 225/45 R18 all round for the track and 9.5" 235/45 R18 all round for the road but their initial thoughts at least give you an idea of what they were going to run on your setup.

That was my worry. But it seems, from what is said here, that half an inch extra in diameter won't make a big enough difference. I sure hope not because it looks like I'm gonna get some 17x7.5's!

Staggered is not weird - it's pretty common. Not really needed unless you have power upgrades but lots of wheels have better dish or concavity in the wider specs.

That said I hope the sizes above are a typo. You'd have the rear wheel almost an inch taller than the front and the sidewall would be noticably thicker as well. Like my oversized winter tires on the rear with stockers on the front. Unless you like the raked drag racer look I guess.

245/35/18 F and 265/30/18 R as mentioned above would be the same diameter, but that's a pretty wide front. Also depends on the brand of tire - some are way wider than others in the same width.

The best way is to browse the other wheel threads and note the tire choices on the ones you like. AutoX guys use fat tires for extra grip so they will have some meaty choices as well - so check their subforum as well. The Yok Advan AD08 in 235 is wider than some 255s.

225/40-18 is 3.5 inches of sidewall.

215/45-17 is 3.8 inches of sidewall (stock).

215/50-17 is 4.23 inches of sidewall and looks 4x4ish

A 911 on 20s is 3.38 inches of sidewall and looks like a rubber band - it doesn't take much to make a big difference IMO.

Also if you don't like low-profile tires consider sticking with 17.

Oops, checked with them and they went 235/40 R18 on the 9.5" and 225/45 R18 on the 8.5"

Wow really?

Here I am nervous about putting 235/40's on 7.5's. I have a set of 04 STi BBS that I want to use on the BRZ, everywhere I look says 235/40's need 8 inches at least.
