the problem with the kit is that it screams fast haha so it sort of requires a tweaked engine or else it would be sort of lol

I'd bet vis racing or a vendor comes out with replica parts. happened to the evo crowd.

for years the voltex stuff was very expensive and then vis and other vendors started selling the replica parts off. its only a matter of time.

I personally love the kit but would never spend 7 grand on it. I'd go turbo and engine build way before.

NO TO KNOCK OFFS!

this is why shop like us have a hard time staying in biz. we try to make our own quality parts and sell it for what its worth. and there are guys the take someones design and knock it off with something that is worth crap. and it ruins it for the guys that try to keep it real!

If this was my site this topic would be deleted... maybe you should have bought a knock off FRS to go with your knocked off Rocket bunny kit. LOL

I would never buy a knock off part. I build custom cars and parts for a living. If there is a part out there that you want, buy if from the Original. This keeps that person in business to keep building new parts that you may want as well.

There is a lot of time and materials used when building a quality part. It's hard to recoupe that if someone buys your stuff coppies it then sells a POS version of your hard work for peanuts.

My favorite thing is that most people with replica kits try to tell people they are the real deal.

Very true...and that leads to another side-effect of poorly made replicas...the poor quality of the KNOCK-OFF effects the image of the ACTUAL part. For instance, I know people who will steer clear of HKS blow-off valves because of all the negative press surrounding the poorly-made Chinese knock-offs. Sad, but true. It almost gets to the point where people just assume what you have is the cheap knock-off, even if you paid 2-3x the cost for the real part.

Unless it comes from a major player? You mean like Trust/ Greddy? Like, one of the three biggest tuner shops in all of Japan? If that ain't good enough for you, you've got unrealistically high standards.

Yeah dude, you realize that Rocket Bunny is also GReddy, right?

Remember Veilside? Think those kits were cheap? How about Ab Flug? Is any kit from a Japanese manufacturer cheap? Not the last time I checked. You gotta pay to play.

Im so glad people are putting such crazy body kits on this car and not touching the engine. Really helps the 86's image. Its gonna turn into the mustang community soon enough.

I think a lot of people are hesitant to do anything to the engine until people see longer-term effects of these modifications. It's a new platform...if everyone running a turbo has a blown engine after 10k miles, then people probably won't want to go down that path.

If that's your justification for buying fake/replicas then so be it.

I know buying real or fake parts is a touchy subject but don't start complaining when companies start closing and then your fake/replica company has no one to copy anymore. Also, saying "Greddy" or whoever is overpriced compared to fake parts is never a good argument. Greddy and other companies had to spend money on actual R&D that factors into the cost

Can I ask how old you are? I used to say things like that, and would buy knock off's etc. But if you want something to last, you have to spend the money. These days if I cannot afford the quality real deal, then I wait until I can.

This mentality is the reason everything is outsourced to China these days, cheap and quality are not two words that mix. You will learn this eventually.

R&D is the key here. Quality of materials and productions methods is the other.

The cheap knock-off parts will likely become brittle in a very short time, and will be prone to cracking and chipping, as well as the ill fitting issue.
