Sorry for your misery man and I hope you get a settlement you're happy with.

BTW what Subaru dealer are you working with? If I get the same problems as you would you suggest I go there to get it resolved?

Honestly bro, Timmons Subaru is very short staff and cant even schedule a oil change to save my life. Hell they dont even have a scan tool for the BRZ they sold me. They gave me some BS excuse on how there only scan tool broke and that its going to be weeks before they get another one.. South Coast Subaru had my car for 3 weeks the first time and while they had it, they "my service advisors" ignored most my calls and just transferred me to some rook that just started working outta high school. Im starting to think subie dealers are a bunch of lazy retards collecting a paycheck doing absolutly nothing at all to serve there customers.

I really think what "Lonewolf" said in the message before this one was a great piece of info.. If anyone that owns a BRZ or FRS has any of the related problems with there cars, we need to turn the heat up on subie and toyota of america and others mentioned.. Only way this will get fixed is by doing this.. Either sit on the couch and watch tv or get up make a phone call and say something related to u and ur car on how it makes u feel.. This is a great site that unites all of us based on our car and interest. I guarantee that once calls start rolling in something is gonna happen.. Good Luck...

I do not own this car and I did call Toyota to let them know that these issues being discussed online are keeping me from making a purchase. People need to complain till they are blue in the face. With the way this car has been selling both companies have little incentive to solve this problem quickly. Whether it was the Toyota rep or the people at my local Richmond Virginia dealership, all I keep hearing is "don't believe everything you read on the web". I can't believe this forum is a conspiracy to destroy Toyota/Suburu's reputation BUT people need to call everyone they can, complain as loud as they can, if possible get the media involved. The people who stand to make money from these cars do not believe you, and as a prospective buyer I've heard this over and over.

BACKGROUND
While this idle issue may manifest itself as an initial dip, please only add your name if you have experienced a combination of the check engine light (CEL) and slip light (SL) in addition to the RPM hunting at idle (often severe shaking and stalling). The code your engine control unit (ECU) should have stored is P0019 (also optional P0017, P0018 or related cam codes).

Toyota and Subaru have developed various solutions for this issue which have not been consistent and may require multiple repairs or even vehicle replacement due to limited success. Repairs could include a combination of the following: replacing cam sprocket assemblies, replacing oil control valves, reflashing and/or replacing the ECU. To expedite service and express your concerns, be sure to contact the corporate customer service numbers below.

Lol, it's been almost one week since I went to the dealership with a CEL (P0019) and they still didn't receive any reply from Toyota France about it. I'm so glad I didn't let them keep my car 'cause it would have been siting somewhere on the parking lot all this time.

They only cleared the code to make the CEL go away, but since then I'm seeing a big loss in power. I think the car is still in limp mode... anyone has seen that ?

At least if that keeps the idle problem away until they can actually fix it, I can live with it for a few weeks. Until then I will keep driving my car with half an engine :/

Dude, we know...

The media knows because of the efforts of those on this thread. Toyota responded to the media and finally acknowledged that something was going on to their owners (not sure of Subaru has said anything to their owners). We those communications filtered down to owners or dealer staff? Hard to say.

As for their statement, "don't believe everything you read on the web" I wouldn't either, there's a lot of unsubstantiated garbage on the internets.

(this next part goes out to the government agencies [both US and Abroad], media outlets and the engineering, public relations, communications and legal departments within Toyota/Scion/Subaru monitoring this thread)

The difference is that for anyone who is confused or resistant to the truth is that the evidence in this thread is valid, genuine, and truthful. Everyone in this thread has paper evidence, dealer repair order numbers, rental car records" "customer satisfaction" case numbers. Court discoverable records exist at the customer, dealer and manufacture which corroborate with each other and would support discovery subpoenas to Toyota/Scion/Subaru to compel them to reveal emails, case notes and engineering data...

I'm #30 above, and it's not correct that it was unfixable. I was given the option to not sit out a repair cycle and either receive a brand new car or get out of the deal altogether. I chose the former. I believe they've fixed the car, because I saw it out on their lot about three weeks after the swap. Thanks for updating my listing!

Damn, a new car? What dealer did that for you? I'm going there if I get the CEL / Idle problem.

I wonder if theres going to be any long term damage to my car.

Ive had the idle dip issue for 4400 miles now and while i havent gotten a CEL i also have not gotten a reflash or new ecu and my dealer is refusing to do anything till i get the CEL.

My question is after i get the CEL and fix it is there going to be long term effects to my motor? I know a few people have but im wondering if thats a given.

My car should be in within the week. Vin# 7111xx. I'm hoping they have this problem fixed by now. Looks like they're over 11,000 for US cars

I am just wondering if anyone with the idle dip problem but no CEL showing, has scanned their cars to see if there are any codes listed. I have had vehicles that threw codes but didn't turn on the CEL.

Anyone?

Then you don't have a problem. Stop wasting the dealership's time until you get the CEL IF you even get it. There is no fix for the idle dip issue; there is a fix for several cam related CELs that seems to sometimes fix the idle dip.

I went in once when they were dead empty for 10 minutes.

And im sorry to argue but my idle dipping, my car bogging ,my car having engine chirping and both my windows squeeling are problems. And ive had every single one of those since i bought the car 3 months ago.
