To the OP, its your money. Get what makes you happy. The new 2.0T's are very nice IMO. Co-worker has the Auto 2.0T. The interior is very nice. But its not a real sports car.

its your pocket, do what you like

You are in a frs/brz forum no one will agree with your decision. The best car on this planet in this forum would the twins

The '86 and Gen Coupe really aren't in the same category of car.

GenCoupe is a GT (like many others have mentioned). Big comfortable touring car. Long trips, long corners. Bigger, heavier cars with lots of HP excel at this. Where it's unique is that there aren't too many Asian made GTs in the market betwen 20-30k.

BRZ/FRS/'86 is a sports car. Meant for going to the track with minimal modifications and excelling at motions that typically induce lots of weight transfer. For this reason low weight, and COG were prioritized over big power, smooth ride, interior space and a quiet interior. Hot hatches, and GT's are not this car's competition for someone looking for a sports car.

Glad you figured out what best suits your needs. The wrong choice would obviously lead you quite unsatisfied.

As others have said, the Gen coupe is a nice tourer but probably limited usefulness in stock form on the track.

The twins on the other hand are just about as agile as you can get shy of going Porsche. And it is possible to make it very fast, especially due to the low weight. The car has great bones.

I still would enjoy the Gen coupe as a DD. Good luck.

The seats in the BRZ are much more comfortable than the seats in the Gencoupe for long trips. I used to get back fatigue with those Gencoupe seats in any drive over an hour. The BRZ seats have got to be some of the most comfortable seated in any vehicle I have ever owned.

They are supportive, but I wouldn't say the most comfortable seats ever, lol.
