Can you expand on this? Offset rod caps have been used for decades to take stress off the rod bolts. Or are you referring to offset wrist pins?

I read that Subaru went with the offset rod caps for ease of assembly. I also read that this configuration put MORE stress on the rod bolts.

Maybe someone can clarify.

I'll be picking up my oil cooler this week so I'll take pics of the car when I stop by. Hopefully someone else will beat me to it as I'm stoked to see this build progress too!

Maybe someone can clarify.
From a basic mechanical perspective, in a standard arrangement, the stress on the rod bolts is primarily stretch (lengthwise) from the part of the cycle when the crankshaft is pulling the rod/piston down in the cylinder. The rest of the time the force is squarely against the base of the connecting rod, either from the crankshaft pushing up or the piston pushing down. Under those conditions, all the bolts are doing is holding the rod end in position so the bearings don't move.
Tilting the rod end adds shearing stress (across the bolt), so yes, it would seem that this layout is harder on the bolts. Depending on the angle, it could also put shearing stress on the bolts whether the force is from the crank pulling or the piston pushing.

This seems counter-intuitive. Can you please explain?
