Been thinking about trading mine in as well. I just need something larger...but I know I'm gonna miss it if I do ever trade it in.

One good thing about my kids being (almost) grown and the wife owning a C-Max; I don't have to worry about hauling around 4 tons of kiddie shit, groceries, and the like. So I am able to "downsize" my car as much as I like. One of the advantages of later middle age.

Yeppers!
Me and my lap top fit just fine. Most practical car I have ever owned.

I'm thinking about getting something larger, like a GTI. Seriously, I hate large cars. No fun in a canyon.

So basically, no different than any other car, gotcha!

I guess I have a different mindset than most about cars because I always pay cash, and rarely get rid of one before its on the verge of falling apart, so I have no expectation of any real value in the car.

Similar deal here...I'm single, and my son is moving away to college in two weeks, so I'm finally able to have an impractical non-mom car as my daily driver.

A truck?? For a DD? I never understood that. Why would you want an uncomfortable, super bulky, slow ass, roll over, crappy MPG truck as a DD? Why did you get an 86 to begin with? Its like going to JC Penny for a steak...not gonna happen.

Well, most trucks are quite comfortable when it comes to riding, and cabin noise is almost non-existent in newer models. I've ridden in diesel trucks for most of my childhood because that's what my dad always drove. The cabin noise was almost non-existent even with a loud engine and the ride was comfortable. They're also safer when it comes to riding through large puddles at speed. I prefer cars myself, but trucks are a viable DD.

I have to disagree. The 2015 Silverado is quite nice. I was able to get around Atlanta for two months in it. Just got to know how to drive

Well people are buying a shit load of them. We are working 24/7 just to make enough rotors to meet the current demand.

Yeah, with gas prices down, the truck/SUV segments are setting sales records across the board from CUV's to full-size luxury brands. Last month combined Tacoma and Tundra pickup sales were up almost 17 percent over last July with the same number of selling days, Lexus luxury utility vehicles were up nearly 28 percent breaking a record going back to 2005.

With captive finance resources churning out subprime loans, there should be lots of used choices in 2-3 years if/when gas prices rise again.

Pickup NVH and content really has come a long way in the past ten years, but so have the prices with top-of-the-line gas pickups approaching $60K, more for the ultimate puller in the horsey set here, a 1-Ton diesel dually.
