Bit of threadomancy but do you happen to have any video/audio of this setup? I have another thread asking for best options to go with the UEL header

Was leaning towards the headers, but that cold start is brutal...in a bad way

Any catless header you get will sound like that on a stock tune and on cold start. You should, as you are supposed to, get a tune to make the proper amount of power and simply tune out that excessive cat warm up process on the stock tune.

A ELH will not be as loud as a UEL header, even at cold start.

EL header is better in every way when it comes to performance though, except for marketing.

Opinions may vary

The torque dip is more like a plateau now and seems to pull a lot better, but let's face it, the main reason for UEL is boxer rumble!

Not sure on what to do for the rest of the exhaust but it is likely that it will be an Invidia Q300 and then a custom down and midpipe
i have borla UEL+ manzo overpipe+ stock front pipe +q300. Its super quiet.

You can tune the cold start to turn off entirely. Also Borla seems to be one of the loudest headers out there.

You'll never hear that with a tune, which you'll want in order to optimize header gains anyway. I ran the borla v2 with my stock exhaust for a month or so before getting a catback and I'd say it's a pretty mild change to sound overall. It's a little louder but if you weren't expecting or looking for it you might not even notice. The rumble is there if you're listening for it but it's very subdued.

Performance, on the other hand, is extremely noticeable. I'm on the Stage 2+ OFT tune and all I can say is that it is NOT overhyped.

Be careful if you start shopping catbacks after installing this header, you'll be amazed how much the stock system does to keep volume down and kill drone.

O.k, great info. Thanks.
I've put a bit of research into it, and never until now read the tune will solve the harshness during start-up. I drive a lot, love listening to the engine, and concluded Borla UEL, plus a tune is a good next step based on vids (but they all had other mods too). I am optimistic again.
I don't want to replace overpipe if not necessary, what is the advantage of that?

I may be mistaken, but I don't believe there's much point to replacing the overpipe unless you want a 100% 3" system, which only really benefits FI applications.

It's possible an overpipe on an NA engine could be a bit more efficient or lighter than the stock piece, but I assume the differences would be extremely small and barely noticeable if at all.

I'm running a stock overpipe and frontpipe and the Tanabe Concept G catback.
