Lease is almost up. Need some advise.
So my DGM 2013 manual limited is up in March with around 23k mi. So I have a couple of options I wanted some input on.
Can keep with buyout of around $16. and possible sell later. or Can get a new black 2015 limited (5 mi away). or Get a new black 2016 limited (45 mi away). Questions .. Are the differences between the 2015 and 2016 worth it. Is the new radio much better? (also whats a good aftermarket radio to get?) Thanks for any help. in Northeast NJ btw. |

There's nothing about 2014, 2015, 2016 limited models that makes on significantly better than previous years. The biggest change is probably the wider tipped exhaust and sharkfin antenna for 2015+ which aren't really selling points.
instead, you should be asking yourself what color, and mileage you want your car to be at and at what price point. |

2016's have a back up camera standard and I believe a new headunit that does NOT have GPS.
2015+ has the shark fin, larger exhaust tips, the fake CF dash trim, a better looking key fob, and a few other. I believe only cosmetic changes though.

OP, test drive one. See if you notice a difference. Some folks say it's more comfortable now (2015+). |

in my opinion, mileage desire and price point is more important than these small changes.

For the sake of traveling an extra 40mi, get the 2016. Resale will be slightly higher at the end of the lease

The steering response from the '16 BRZ is what makes the car feel brand new. Def. a lot tighter (that's what she said) and more direct. Plus, coming from a base FR-S (even though it was a '15 aka touch screen), the keyless entry/heated seats/jdm frameless mirror(thanks Hyper.Blue), backup camera, etc. makes it great. Only complaint about the '16 is that bluetooth works weird with spotify. doesn't update song names. but that's it Get a '16. Don't look back. kthxbai.

I would always say that if you plan to buy new then go with the newest year model car for the potential higher resale value in the future but at $16k to buy yours back it is really a good price.
Buying your lease isn't like buying any other USED car because you put the miles on it and you know exactly what was done to it. For me, I couldn't imagine parting with my 2014 Limited BRZ because at this point I have customized it to my exact taste. I am at 14,333 fun filled miles. Good luck with your decision.

Right now, I have the 2015 Series.Blue and I can tell you that 2015 and above MY, is slightly better than previous MY's.
My selling point: better suspension. Look it up.

Why would you upgrade(if you want to call it that) to the same car when there is nothing wrong with yours. Sounds like a waste of money. Just buy the one currently in your possession and continue your "build"
