Oh ok. I want a really loud exhaust setup so I was just wondering if the pipe adds any nice sound to the car.

Here is my setup. Borla UEL (uncatted of course), Perrin over pipe, Tsudo catted front pipe, stock cat back.

How loud is your setup when driving? Does the stock catback do a good job of keeping the noise down? What did you do first or was it all at once? Im looking to change my exhaust slightly to give a little bit more volume and better tone than stock and I want to keep the stock catback for DD and my JDM tips to keep the stock look. sorry for asking so many questions I really like the sound.

Ditto. Except it became twice as loud.

You guys serious? Not even increase in responsiveness to throttle input? Nothing? Maybe I lucked out, tho my exhaust sound levels did not increase by very much even with no resonator or cat.

Sounds disappointingly tinny. Louder than stock but like a tin can exhaust sound.

I've worked under a couple of other FR-S both had factory header/over/front pipes. One I installed an exhaust much like Invidia with silencer and dual mufflers, pretty standard exhaust. And the other had factory mid pipe with custom dual straight pipes replacing the factory axle back. Both cars had a nice deep throaty sound, and surprisingly mild in terms of decibels, especially the one with straight piped rear section. I may be a bit hard of hearing from all my years of motorcycle riding without ear protection.

Man that pic of your exhaust tips has a really good comparison between BRZ and FRS front bumper. I am so happy I got the BRZ. I dunno what it is but I think it looks 1000x better like it has a molded in front lip

Once I get my hands on a go pro I'll attach it to the rear bumper to capture the exhaust noise under load. Every car I have ever put headers on becomes a bit tinny, even V8s.

I have had my eyes and ears on a Perrin resonated exhaust. The muffler on that seems to clean up the noise.

The only time it's really loud is during cold start. Once warm inside the car you can hear the boxer rumble, but it is certainly not loud. Yes, louder than stock, but at high RPMs the noise generator can still overpower the exhaust.

I did all at once.

i like the way that sounds. my front pipe has no cat so i could imagine having a header on my car. the rasp would be crazy!

You know you can silence that generator with the 12v socket cover... Just stick it in the hole under the passenger side firewall, and wala, not only can you enjoy your exhaust but now you can make hands free phone calls with out screaming.
