Just replying because I would like to see what people are paying for used these days?
The car is going into it's 4th year and I am not seeing the prices reflective of often quoted depreciation rates.
1 yr worth 73% of original value, 2 yr 64%, 3 year 55%
anyone?
thanks,
A.

2013 Series 10 with 26,000 miles - $21,500 with tax, title and whatever dealer fees. Dealer had a black 2013 with around 50K that I could have taken for $18K. I thought the lower miles and added features of the 10 were worth.

Where I live, the FR-S loses about $8K after the 1st year. $2K a year after that. I might have been able to get the car down another $500~1000, but they gave me $16K for my 2012 GTI with 28,000 miles and some rear bumper damage and lots of curbing on the rims, so I wasn't going to complain.

Despite the absurd panic about a year ago when people figured out they lost 25-30% over the first year the car is holding steady, most places have a strong market keeping cars around $20k (lots of demand for a car like this and enough people with the money to pay that price) and the lack of changes year to year have seen values plateau. I wouldn't expect to see $15k (%60) the norm for another two years at least. Oh and if they discontinue the car at the end of it's run (2-4 years from now) expect to see values jump up.

The car has only been on the market for roughly 3 years, 3 months. Got another 6+ months to go before looking at 4 year values.

There are areas where demand is low and if you can take a higher mileage one with a few dings you can certainly get under $18k but it's a rarity. But be willing to fly to it and drive it back (well worth it imo, if I were to buy another one I'd do it in a heartbeat to save a couple hundred bucks, nice little vacation and roadtrip to familiarize yourself with the car).

Word. The stock setup for FRS's with their tendency to oversteer will see a huge market for cars with bent subframes just like 240SX's EXCEPT you can kick the tail out 3 times easier. I was surprised how easy it was to induce a tail slide when I went to an empty complex, just drop a gear and floor it BAM 2nd gear slide.

ya that's why if I got a 13/14 I'd put Koni shocks on right away ...cure that a bit..
also I suppose with the residual values so high it also makes leasing little more attractive.I've seen the buyouts from these leases and thought them to be too high but in light of this perhaps not.

I know, most people on this site like to hate on the AT but I love the s--t out of the it, especially with the Berk Muffler delete installed.
I held out for almost a year looking for an MT but I only gave myself 3 color options. Finally settled on an AT in almost flawless condition and I'm happy I did.

2013 $20,500 OTD with 29k miles in southeastern Virginia.

Hmmm interesting... A lot of the prices here are what I've been seeing...

Makes me want to pull the trigger on the 2013 Base (1 owner, no accidents) I found that I should be able to get for $17 - $18 OTD...

(got it down to $17.5 OTD but got cold feet and held off on the purchase because I was also looking at a new job... 1 month later car is still there but dealer has dropped the price $500...)

edit:

I should note that I literally had the phone in my hand and was about to dial the dealer but got cold feet (AGAIN) this time because I like certain design features of the BRZ better (even though the only one in my area is red - which was way down there on my list of colors)
