Window wiper speed control?

I was wondering if I was the only one with my window wiper speed control “ring” wired backward? It’s never bothered me. Just thought it was interesting. On my car I roll the ring backward to increase the wiper speed. The graphic would suggest the exact opposite. My wife’s RAV4 of the same year has the same graphic on the same ring but is wired intuitively-you roll it forward to increase the wiper speed.

I find it intuitive, the ring rolls backward/down to increase speed, just as moving the lever down increases speed. Keeps it so that down is consistently faster and up is consistently slower.

Oh really?! Shoot maybe our RAV4 is backward then. I just assumed that the speed should increase with the size of the graphic. Like a vent or temp control graphic. Bigger = faster/more.

The dial adjusts the delay, so the wider graphic = longer delay.

Our Saturn works one way, the FR-S the other way.

No matter which car I'm in, I turn it the wrong way.

So, it makes no difference to me -

Well those are two very different manufacturers. I hate that Subaru keeps changing things. Why can't they leave the basic controls the same across all models year to year.
I turn the wiper speed control clockwise, (toward the windshield) in my 2006 Sti but counter clockwise in the wife's 2016 STi as well as my 2018 BRZ tS.
And don't get me started on the single swipe and washer squirter controls...

Pah! I’ve got a Peugeot as my other car. The windscreen on both the pug and the 86 are spotless.

Welp, we could go back to the old days with the vacuum wipers that had two speeds, slow and stop (if the engine was using all the vacuum).

What do you mean old days, the R series Mack trucks at work still run them.

Well, we still have them until they are fully replaced by the new MAN trucks, which keep breaking by they way.

Typical......
