Relocating from Hawaii

Hello everyone, my name is Jose Moreno. I'm a Navy Vet living in Hawaii and soon relocating to Portland on Feb 23. I don't currently have a BRZ/FRS, however I will be purchasing one in May time frame. I've been following this thread and the meet ups threads and I can't wait till I have my Brz and meet with you guys. I'm also looking forward to going to auto cross events and well just having a good time. I've never lived in Oregon, so I have a few questions about the state laws.

1. Is there any aftermarket exhaust DB level limit?
2. How strict are the emission laws?

Well thanks guys, and hope to meet everyone soon.

The 86 scene is pretty thick here in Portland. I think you'll like it.

There is a theoretical DB limit here, but unless you are greatly exceeding it I don't think you will run into trouble. Keep your stock exhaust just in case, I guess.

Basically, if you can pass the OBDII plug test then you pass emissions. On newer cars they don't even do a visual inspection anymore... just plug your car into their computer and that's it. I am not sure how in-depth the OBD info is... I think that as long as you don't have a CEL then you pass?

Oh thanks Darren for making a thread for me.By the way you're Man Cave garage looks bad ass! Congrats.
I'm planning on running later on a single titanium exhaust, hopefully it won't be too loud.

Well if you end up with an 86 here in Portland, then you are more than welcome to bring it over for some installs when you need them.

I chose portland as my new home because i like the Portland Timbers and i have co-workers that are from Oregon that tell me that there is a good auto cross scene.
Well among other things, when I visited in January , I went to Mt. Hood and fell in love with nature and skiing.
Once again thanks for the invite to go check out your garage.

As far a car scene. I think Pdx is one of the most friendliest. Not to bash on other regions. Just what I noticed. Plus having a lot of local vendors here makes it really nice.

I know it so cool that Perrins is only a drive away in Hillsboro!
I love their performance parts they already have for the "86".
I like they do a lot of engineering and research on their parts.

I just visited Oahu (well, anywhere in Hawaii) for the first time last month. It was pretty cool... didn't have time to check out Pearl Harbor, though. Next time.

Wow I really want a brz limited because of the extra perks like dual climate control and key less entry but its crazy how dealers nationwide are charging 3-4k more than invoice prize.
I've seen prices as high as 32k thats insane people!

It looks like I'm going to have to get FRS since its not marked up and under 25k...
I just don't like the scion badges makes it not worthy of the legendary Toyota heritage.
I'm going have to do a complete rebadge!

Wait I messed up with my username because I should chose something neutral. If I get a Toyota, I'm going have to change my brzracer tag :0
