KartBoy + MTEC Springs = Perfect Shifting

It's been awhile since we made a video. Our old school shop cars have been long turned into full race cars and taken on new life as we push them to the limits N/A and boost wise.

So we went out and picked up a couple wrecked twins. The first one is the BRZ below in the video in which we will be doing an entire video series on. We're going to provide a mod path, in which you guys can follow and make your own tweaks, to making your daily driven FRS/BRZ one that's unique and functional.

We're big fans of the KartBoy shifter and MTEC springs as they dramatically change the shifting and bring out more of that sports car feel when enjoying your favorite roads. Kevin below goes over the install process and provides some helpful tips if you choose to go this route.

Let us know what other great videos you want to see.

You should try removing the clutch spring.

Did that too, along with the STi transmission mount, forced fab llc trans mount stiffener, poly rear shifter bushing, lightweight delrin shift knob, and Amsoil fluids.

Costs <$50 takes <30 minutes totally worth it, gets rid of the Fisher-Price feeling in the clutch

I've never heard one that rattles. We have this in three cars here at the shop and all are fine.

There is a DIY to "kill" the rattles, and a good amount of threads discussing the matter. I would have bought one a long time ago, just seems like there have been some issues with these. Seems like the only short shifter available that doesn't have any reported rattles in the TRD.

I'm a big fan of the kartboy shifter, and the m-tech shift spring...just not together, increases the effort to shift too much. Also my kartboy shifter rattles like no tomorrow.

What do you mean by increases the effort?

It requires a constant amount of work to move the shifter through the gears, by reducing the displacement you increase the force required. Also the springs only increase force when moving side to side.
