lowering springs - if you did it tell me more..

not trying to debate one brand or another. my question is this. if you take the BRZ/FRS and drop it the usual 1" -- what can you expect - what did you like about it - what didn't you like - is that considered too low? do people go further than 1" ? is that typical ?

if you have any pics of your 'almost-stock' 86 lowered... that would be great too. Trying to decide if I want to do it and what to expect ..

am I going to be all paranoid about hitting the front end or is there plenty of room ?

1" isn't enough on this car. Go 1.4" with some Eibach Sportlines. Sits perfect and still handles great!

Just did mine and absolutely love it, car handles exactly how it should have from the factory. No noticeable harshness or rough ride. Only mod is the springs.

Mach V lowering springs for Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S lower your car approximately 0.75" in the front and 1.0" in the rear. They're 28% stiffer than stock in the front, and 30% stiffer than stock in the rear.

It all depends on what you are looking to get from the mod as Turn in said. In my experiences when you put just springs on factory struts will fail prematurely. How long it takes all depends on how good the struts are, driving style and roads it goes on.

If you are doing just the springs than I recommend you do the Koni Yellows at the same time. The labor involved to just switch the springs is almost identical to doing the springs and struts at the same time.

I just looked at the Koni struts and it looks like they're priced ~$200 PER strut, add another ~$230 for lowering springs then I dont see why not save a bit more for coilovers. Getting springs and new struts just seems redundant to be honest unless I'm missing something here.

Depends on the purpose, as everyone's said. Coils can be overkill for a lot of situations, and will adversely affect the gentle DD'ing.

That setup will be leaps and bounds better than any coilovers you can get for under 2k.

Really? I was under the impression that coilovers were the pinnacle of suspension upgrades?

The pinnacle is not in the type of upgrade, but rather the QUALITY of the upgrade.

Koni's with RCE Yellows, Mach V springs, or any other QUALITY spring will ride better than $1000 BC coilovers that aren't custom valved.

Go for springs first, when you blow out your shocks (hey maybe it'll be 2 years down the road) get good struts. Get at least some camber bolts while you take those out and get an alignment after.

Cheap coilovers will eventually blow also and they aren't rebuildable...so there goes the savings of 'doing it right' the first time.

^ AND the ride quality will be craaaaaaap. Anyone that says Megan or BC ride great clearly haven't ridden with quality coils...

I'm on just springs and not too worried. Mach V's had the lower drops of the local options, shouldn't be too much harder on the shocks.
