which clutch are you on?
I think that all the ACT kits come with the same pressure plate whether you get a 6 puck or a full face. I am not sure about the Clutchmasters though. I have the ACT 6 puck because like you, I didn't want to not have enough clutch.

i went with the full face and fear i shouldn't have. i was afraid of the harshness of the 6 puck having never driven one to know for sure. damnit lol.

Good luck.
That stock fluid was out after toyota told me i was good to pull it (they wanted me to "wear in" the transmission). Moment I got a green light Motul went in...

Thanks!

Hopwfully in the next few weeks i can cycle down to 91 octane and re dyno for a comparison between the pulleys. after that I'll write up a little review and comparison between setups I've driven and tested Now that I've got the belt and most of the issues panned out I can finally finish up the testing I was doing over a month ago!

P.S. This kit is a blast at this level.

For those in a colder climate how is your car performing?
Now that we have hit colder temps, the blower sound when cold is somewhat alarming.

The oil cooler also is going to have to be disconnected I can't get oil temps above 165F Even blocked off in 20 minutes of driving.
@Rick@Vortech @Brian@Vortech Can you guys provide the temperature operating range of the SC oil and thoughts about this?

Got a video of that sound? We're still in the overnight 40s here in NY so nothing freezing yet. The Vortech hasn't sounded any different to me at these temps. Has it dropped below freezing in Chicago already?

Also, consider putting an engine blanket over the entire engine bay overnight, or if you want to go cheap, just get one of these types of heating pads and cover the Vortech? [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Kats-24150-Watt-Universal-Heater/dp/B000I8TQD6"]Amazon.com: Kat's 24150 150 Watt 4"x 5" Universal Hot Pad Heater: Automotive[/ame] Just kinda wrap it around the blower so it provide enough ambient heat to the oil I guess. Might need some additional thermal layer type material to enclose it.

I've heard of other folks with Vortech V3's go through winters in sub-freezing temperatures without one, but keep in mind that Vortech themselves have put that stipulation in the warranty documents. Cold-starting the car in sub-25 Fahrenheit temperatures without an engine heater/blanket is enough for them to void your warranty.

Do we seriously need it? To keep things running no, you're probably OK unless you're in seriously arctic conditions. Do you want to avoid the risk? Then I'd get a heated garage or some way to keep at least the Vortech warm enough that its oil doesn't cause issues in the cold.

Quote:
IMPORTANT COLD WEATHER INFORMATION
In order to achieve the low noise level of Vortech superchargers, Vortech specifies manufacturing procedures that call for minimal internal clearance. These precise tolerances however are not conducive to temperatures below 25° F. Therefore, storing the vehicle in a heated garage and/or employing the use of an engine block heater/aftermarket engine blanket is required when the vehicle is subjected to a "cold startup" in ambient temperatures below 25° F. Failure to comply with this may result in immediate supercharger failure and invalidate the supercharger warranty.

If the temperature is below 25F degrees, then we highly suggest a engine heater/blanket to warm it up. @Foobar pretty much got it right on the money.

Any idea if the temperature range changes for the oil fed unit?

So basically the kit has to come off for the winter. Or in my case off forever now.

I am hearing noise already noise when starting in 40 ambient temps. My garage is heated but when I park outside at work all day it's clearly going to lose heat fast.
An engine block heater is not going to warm the SC oil.

This reminds me of why I stayed away from modding cars for so long.

Not to nitpick your decision to remove it permanently, but we discussed this very topic back in May and Brian confirmed the temperature < 25 stipulation in his response to you: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=339

What else changed that is now bringing you to the decision to remove it forever? I'm not trying to be a **** here, I'm honestly curious if you've encountered other negative issues with the kit.

The block heater is probably enough to keep ambient temperature in the engine bay at a safe enough point, but I guess this all depends on a lot of variables which confirms for me that the verbiage in the Vortech warranty doc is legal "CYA" content.
