Bendpak QuickJack BL-5000
I purchased a Bendpak QuickJack BL-5000 last December and was able to use it for the first time yesterday to swap out my winter rims/tires for my summer set. Just a quick video that shows how it works in case anyone else was interested in it. I only raised it to the first level since I was only changing out rims/tires. It goes up one other level for a total height around 24". My car is lowered 1" and I was able to safely drive over the ramps and slide them out.

I got it from a groupbuy that was hosted on the garagejournal.com forums.
It was $1272 delivered. They have 2 models, the BL-3000 and BL-5000, capable of 3000lbs and 5000lbs respectively. There is a safety bar that locks into place in case the hydraulics fail. You could use some jack stands as a secondary safety net if you plan on going under the car. That is what I plan on doing, but that's just because I like to have a backup just in case. |

apparently these things were plagued with problems of leaky quick couplings. Did yours have any leaking issues?

The BL-3500 (3500 lbs capacity) is only about $1k on ebay. Seems like a really useful tool that'll pay for itself with time. Tempted.

Jacking it up takes almost as long as whatever work I'm doing on it most of the time. |

No leaks here. They had delayed production for a few months to work those issues out. I have the revised version with casters, improved retention mechanism for the safety bar, revised quick disconnects, etc. I get a little fluid when connecting or disconnecting, but that's only because I'm not doing it quickly enough. Once they are connected, no leaks.

Fluid changes, brake or suspension work, exhaust work and on and on.. All easier.

How are the jacking points? Just on the pinch welds with the rubber blocks? No issues with the distance between blocks?

I bought the BL-5000 because it is a little bit longer. It still does not span the 60" that are between the front/rear jack points. It's reach is 53" and it comes with some 1.5" and 3" rubber blocks. I used the 1" blocks and put the front on the jack point. I had considered something like the Atlas Kwik-bay 7000, but that thing is like 900lbs and not easy to move around. Plus it would still not reach the 60" jack points. Overall, very happy with my purchase and it's made things so much easier and faster. |
