Bummer.. doesnt take much to destroy one of these motors with their high stock CR and too much boost. You should be able to find a motor someone pulled at a reasonable price. Did you window the block? either way you got your work cut out for you.

Approximately how much boost was being pushed through it when it spiked? What was the target boost?

You'll be best off looking for a lightly used longblock with low miles. They can be had for around $3000 + shipping/delivery.

you install this yourself? Did the port come out as in break, or was it not threaded in all the way and fell out?

Sorry to hear man. Hope you get things sorted.

Hey King Kai, sorry to hear about your motor man, havent even gotten my kit yet, but ill make a note to double check all hose connections 3x. Definitely cold of your tuner to handle things like that, I wish you the best of luck man. My advice would be to find something local, I would check used car dealerships I have ran into some here parting a couple out, somehow they gathered 4 to make 2 cars, check insurance auctions. But I was quoted 3k for a complete motor with low miles for reference.

It sucks, but if the wastegate port came off due to your error, the dyno operator would not be liable. If they did the install, then that's a different story.

More so if his story is correct and true, it sounds like they are a bunch of ass hats that could not give a fuck about their client. Installer error is correct and it is not the shops problem, But to just throw his car on the street and the keys in the mail box makes the shop owners sound like scum fucks of the earth.

Disclaimer: This is all if owners story is accurate and not made to sound like he is the culprit of poor customer service.

It's tough to complain or say anything about a shop when they did not install all of the parts or did they? I'm not defending anyone I just know that doing installs yourself on "risky" parts and pieces poses a noteable risk always does. I do lots of part and pieces myself however boost being expensive and a tune being of top importance I will have a shop doing it and tuning it all of course researched and competent to the kit I'll get.

Not to discredit any part of the story, but shops tend to do that when the customer needs the car after hours. If they did it while they were open, I'd be very suprised.

Here is what is racing through my mind and the reason why I lack sympathy.

An old couple walks into a dealership looking for a new ride.... The End

Maybe their son/daughter should have taken the time to go with them like they did for their children's first car purchases? Otherwise they may end up paying for some unethical douchebag who blew his engine with a bolt-on turbo kit and then defrauded the dealer into replacing it under warranty.

You can argue that only the dealer loses in such cases but in my experience it isn't the dealer or even the manufacturer who pays for that kind of fraud. Those costs are simply passed on to the consumer.
