Wheel Directory: HD Tuning Gear 18x7.5 +35 / 18x9.0 +40

I really like how these wheels look on an asphalt FRS and was thinking about going with them. I've looked around but can't seem to find any reviews on HD tuning wheels.

These are 18x7.5 35mm in front and 18x9 40mm in back.

Can some of you wheel gurus chime in? I would greatly appreciate the feedback or input.

Scott

I emailed them weeks ago about more info on the HD Gear Forged. No reply.

I can order this entire setup with Vredestein Ultra SessentaTires for just under $1400+shipping. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Personally I think this setup looks great and this wheel style is a little different which is going to be good for shows this summer.

Anyone else have any more thoughts about the wheels and tires?

Kind of odd sizing for sure, if i were to get this wheel i would get the 18x9 all around but i don't care for the design. I'd get some XXR's and tires for cheaper but thats just me.

If you wait on the XXR 531 or 535 not many people will have them because they are just coming out in May-June.

I'm pulling the trigger on these tonight. As soon as I get them installed I'll be sure to post pics.

So after about a month of researching the wheels and tires, here is what I have come up with.

The Vredestein Ultra Sessenta tires are really popular in the UK with the BMW and Merc crowds for their wet and dry performance and quietness at that price range. Only complaints have been treadwear.

I can't find anyone else that has installed these wheels but after talking with the seller here is what I have found out;

The wheels are lug-centric but the seller will be sending centering rings free of charge with the wheels. Since I am saving the stock wheels for track days and autocross, (different tires) and these wheels will be for daily driving and shows, I don't see a problem with it.

Overall I like these more and more everyday I look at the pictures especially since they are a bit different from what everyone else is running.

I had Vreds on my M3 for a while, decent tire.

Rims are cool but weird sizing front to rear, I'd want 8 or 8.5 front.

I agree that 18 x 7.5 is a bit odd for the fronts but I love the fit. I would be more concerned about it if I were to be racing with this setup. 225s in front with 255s in back would dial in a LOT of understeer with this car!

They look like either formula car wheels or RC car wheels to me. I dig it but probably not something I'd buy, at least in those sizes.

I used to race 1/10th scale AWD On road every weekend in Seattle. I had a nitro TC3! Ahh, the memories.

Now that you mention it, they do look a bit like RC wheels. But then again, most wheels in that type of design do.

Did you ever install these? I also was intrigued by these... I think it's the fake centerlock hub look that got me maybe. I adore centerlocks on Porsches...
