I want rumble but need advice
Hi everybody,
I have a stock 2015 BRZ with around 15K miles on it. I want to mod it, mainly to get a deeper rumble sound. Not raspy. Not Godzilla loud. I love vids I'm seeing of Borla UEL headers. Also love vids of Corsa catback. But I hear combined they are too loud. Any suggestions for this kind of sound? Thanks in advance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

UEL headers with stock catback is probably your best bet. see if you like it.

Off topic, but changing the header will make the check engine light comes on right?

Anytime you change the flow rate of your exhaust system it could throw off the sensors and the CEL could come on, thus you should also have an appropriate tuned firmware installed.

Header + OFT stage 2 will solve all of your (lack of) rumble problem and CEL issues.
I have the Gruppe-S header and love it. It sounded great with the stock exhaust. Then just get some exhaust tips (Vibrant 1207) and have them welded on the muffler for $30 and you are done!

I've got a full exhaust on my car and it's way too loud. That said, I've found that one of the parts that quiets it down the most is the stock front pipe. It's both catted and resonated so it will keep it somewhat quiet.

I don't think you'll end up with much rumble (at least nothing you can feel in any way) with the stock catback.
I would retain stock front and overpipe (they cut down on volume and rasp big time), go with a UEL header, and a quieter catback. I found that I couldn't feel any rumble from the Q300 -- You would have to step up to the Perrin 2.5 resonated. Either way, if at all possible, go jump in some other folks cars. You can read reviews all day and night to try and make a decision... only to put the recommended exhaust on your car and hate it within 5 seconds. It'll save you tons of money to try out as much as you can first. My 2c: UEL header (gruppe-s, tomei, OFH, etc) with stock front/overpipe and GreddySp-Elite, Perrin 2.5 resonated, or Top Speed Pro-1 (if you can find it). You'll gain rumble that you can feel in the cabin, without much drone (you'll have a little bit on highway... but you can't have rumble at some RPM when cruising, but not at the same RPM on highway). |

Yeah I would start with a header and go from there; I have my eye on the catted UEL header from FT86SPeedFactory and a Motiv overpipe, but I've already done an Invidia N1 CBE and catless resonated front pipe and the car is a bit louder than I prefer, especially on longer drives.

Saying all of the above I still don't hear the WRX STI burble.. its so distinctive much like the Harley Davidson beat.
I have a UEL, aftermarket O/P and fast cat front pipe, the rest is stock. The changes removed the torque dip and made some difference to the sound however its not a deep earthy burble/rumble. |

op, since you didnt say anything about the power bump, try a catback or axleback first searching for the sound. its easier to work on the back than the front (headers). the corsa catback itself sounds great.
