Seriously?! It's only two months old!!

Ok, so I've had my FRS for two months now and yesterday some lady hit my car. It was on a one way road that was two lanes, I was in the left lane and she was in the right. I was passing her and she decided she was going to turn left from the right lane. Result, her front bumper destroyed the passenger side of my car, including busting out the door window.

I've been driving for 16 years and have never been in an accident...owned this car 2 months and someone hits me

Anyway, I'm taking the car in to get some estimates tomorrow, do you guys have any advice on what I should have them look for, anything I should tell them, or just anything in general?

First off, ouch... Tell them what happened and ask for any major frame damage and what-not. If you have any witnesses (that are on your side) give their number so they can help out your case.

Best of luck

Go to a reputable body shop. Follow your gut instinct during the process of estimates and how you feel about the people at the shop. Even though it sucks to see the car that way. Take your time and shop around to find the right people to bring your baby back to show room condition. Hang in there, it will get better!

I'm just worried about how they are going to fix it. I don't know if they will cut the quarter panel out and weld in a new one, or just pound it out and smooth it. I really don't know what would be better, I just hope it can be as good as new again. It looks like the door jamb is even banged up a bit, but I haven't tried to open the door yet, I've just got it tarped in my driveway until I can get someone to look at it tomorrow.

Just tell them how you got hit and let the rest to them. Sorry to hear that, I can also relate because a girl driver thought it was a smart idea to text and drive..

If you have any high end dealers (R.R., Ferrari, etc.) in the area there's a good chance they don't have their own body shop because of the low volume they deal in. However, they still have occasional need for body work to be done. Ask them who they use. Don't be surprised if it's some little shop off the alley. It's the skill of the individual body man that counts and not how pretty his shop is.

I'd be a little leary of this advice as it really depends on whether or not the individual franchised dealerships are under a larger management group. The larger groups tend to have their own body shop that they send their damaged vehicles to and in my experience, tend to do a shitty job.

For example, Ferrari of Hollywood might be the name on the sign, but it could be owned by the same group that has multiple Honda, Acura, Toyota, Scion, Chevy, and Kia dealerships. At that rate, they'd definitely have their own body shop that they send their cars to and not some independent shop in some alley that does good work.

I guaran-frickin-tee you that no Ferrari franchisee is sending their cars to the same place they send their Kias to. Unless they happen do awesome work on Kias too.

Ferrari owners are some of the most anal-retentive motherfuckers on the planet -- yeah, some of the new owner douches aren't, but the same dealers also provide service to the vintage guys, and a Ferrari dealer actually makes most of their net profit off the service and the vintage parts inventory they maintain for these older cars. No dealer who wanted to retain his franchise for more than a month would send their vehicles to anywhere other than the absolute best place in town -- regardless of wherever they may send 'other' brands in their dealership network.
