Enigmus-You've cleaned up the rear of the car nicely. Any plans for the radio antenna?

thanks! actually yes i was going to start another thread about aftermarket antennas. I'm not a huge fan of the shark fin at all. I'd like it a little more low profile like the GTR antenna

if not i'd like to delete the antenna on the roof altogether and move it inside. Like how the viper alarm antennas are concealed and mounted to the glass

The in-glass antenna is something that I wish the factory did...who gives a crap about a slight drop in reception?

I just have a feeling that a workable antenna delete solution will be expensive and time-consuming. Please keep us updated!

After seeing the red, I was convinced because the black tint just meet really worked for me. But the red with black that you managed to pull off(even though you say you aren't happy with it) has got to be my favorite look so far. This will definitely be done to whichever model I end up getting and no matter what color I happen to get.

Thanks for the DIY instructions.

Wet sand 1500
Wet sand 2000
5 layers Krylon clear coat

2 heavy layers clear coat
Dry for 24 hours
Wetsand 2000 grit
Hand polish rubbing compound
Wax

tip: if you find specks of dust in between layers. do not touch it. let it dry a little bit more and with passes of the heat gun. then use Masking tape to pick off any specks of dust before proceeding to spray more layers.

I might remove the wax and polish it with a portercable as i don't feel it is glossy enough. if all else fails I'll bring it to a shop for a coat of clear coat.
Hey man, nice ride. You got your ride from New Orleans...that is great. I got mine there as well. Mine was the first one in but I ordered my third...got lucky. I ordered the blue limited and it arrived on 1 June. I picked up the next day and couldn't wait. I can't remember the sales person but I spoke w/ Rex about it. Do you think the dealership will work w/ us on any aftermarket stuff? Are you from N.O. then? I'm here in Gautier, MS...I work at Keesler AFB. Nice to meet you and being close by. BTW...when is the next track day at NOLA? I'm going to Grand Bay, AL on Saturday and test her out. Anyway, send me a message sometime and we can maybe meet up in NO on a wkend or track day. Laterz.

Thanks for the DIY

Followed it with the results below. I did smoked outside, with a red with smoke in the center. This is my attempt at FRS concept-like tails.

Could be clearer, but happy with them. Might try to add some coats of clear.

Man I hate to be a **** but you've made your car a very neutral color that is easy to lose in many environments and lighting conditions, a finish that is very flat and non reflective, you've smoked/tinted your primary and third brake lights to the point their output is surely very diminished, and you've essentially neutralized all retroreflectors on the rear of the vehicle.

I've seen many people get seriously f'ed up due to high speed rear end collisions which you are now at greater risk for, stationary or otherwise. If you ever have to pull the car to the side of the highway, put your flashers on and abandon it until a wrecker or motorist assists arrives. I'm dead serious. Based on the wrecks I've been to it's a good idea in general and with a car like that pretty much a requirement.

Wouldn't call you anything, it's just an opinion and thanks for it. Side reflectors yes I do agree were compromised, but the rest is just fine. Easy to see day or night, the tails are no darker than the last blazers or grand prixs.

Im wiring the forth brake light today.

I appreciate the concern, and so does my mother. lol

All these look great but if I were to red out the tails, I would do it like this chop I did:

Or my preffered method of a blacked out housing like so:

Gonna give this a shot within the next week, and will try to post pics. I'll mostly be following the Enigmus approach.

I apologize for the crappy picture (phone), but here's the finished product. I'll try to post more later.

Notes:

I apparently suck at painting, so there are some blemishes and irregularities on the tails. I still think it looks much better than stock, but I think if a manufacturer decided to make them. I'd definitely purchase a set.
