I would be hard-pressed to think that the amount of airflow that would enter there would be enough to cool the engine bay and turbo to required specs. I for one would be using a turbo blanket and having the exhaust housing and the headers all ceramic coated, just to be safe.

Hey John, I know you've been hard at tuning this thing. Are we going to see any dyno graphs/numbers before friday, the release date?

As always, keep up the great work guys!

Not necessarily true, allowing the engine to run and keeping oil circulating after shutting the car off (via turbo timer) usually is adequate and a good safety measure towards preventing this issue.

Turbo technology has come a long way, these types of failure are remote. Usually happening from end user and disregard of proper turbo maintenance/care.

Here's a little warning blurb from Holset about a few of their turbos.

Quote:
Turbocharger surface temperature during operation can achieve 700°C (1300°F). The HC5A/HX80/82/83/85/
HT4B/4C/80 turbochargers weigh up to 60 kg (132 lb) and turbine housing weight is greater than
20 kg (45 lb).

Updated 93 oct dyno charts in first post! We will be testing E-85 tomorrow thanks to Deatchwerks. They will be sending us one of the first prototype upgraded injectors / fuel pumps.

To everyone who has asked questions I will be slowly answering them in the next few days.

Thank you for all the great comments and support!

I'm not a real big fan of the placment of the turbo so much weight up front spoiled the perfect weight. but i'm damn inpressed that its a auto with 291 RWH i think thats the highest auto yet, nice to see the build. Not for me tho all the best guys.

I read the whole thread and I'm sorry if I missed it but which turbo is being used.

Is the reason for the impressive numbers at 8psi due to a different turbo being used than the one Don@AP is using?

I assume different turbos can have different effects on the power curve and 8psi does not equal 8psi.
