Just got my TRD exhaust put on. Sounds sooo good. I've had the CAI since the day I bought my car, wanted to wait a bit on it. I'm even more in love now.

Why does everyone think that a another brand aftermarket exhaust will affect your warranty somehow? It won't. You dont need a TRD exhaust to keep your warranty intact like some imply on here. Any cat-back exhaust is fine. Nobody cares after the cat on back..
I like the TRD and was set on getting one.. until the Milltek.

Mikem I think some prefer the fact that if you buy TRD and have it installed by Toyota that the exhaust itself will be under warranty.

Because your warranty can be denied for having an aftermarket exhaust. Check with your dealer's service manager fist to make sure they are cool with it.

100% wrong.

They would need to prove the part caused failure.

That's not the case with a cat back exhaust. The exhaust itself won't be covered. That is all that is affected. The service manager might say they wont cover it. The law says different.
We are talking about a pipe, after emissions, nobody cares.

I've had encounters in the past with warranty claims and had my warranty voided because of engine mods, rightly so.. nobody is going to relate a warranty problem to a cat back exhaust all legal and carb exempt, and everything.. be realistic..

I'm looking for an exhaust for my FRS and what I'm taking from some of these replies is that the dealership sells And warranties the TRD one? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct, but it must be installed by the dealer to be warrantied.

InsideLine did a dyno test on their stock car, and they posted numbers very similar to yours.

I know the conditions and such could be very different, so it's not apples to apples, but I'm guessing by the look of things, there wasn't much improvement over stock in terms of power.

Perhaps after the ECU adjusted, you were able to realize a little more power?

I really want to get a TRD (for convenience sake) but I don't want to leave 10HP on the table if I don't go with a Perrin over the TRD.

Thanks for the posting - very helpful and it definitely sounds great!

It's hard to hear with the dyno noise and fans until about 38 sec's in when he gets the RPM's up....I have pictures of the new and old exhaust and intakes in my photos here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/album.php?albumid=718.

The CAI was only in 5 days before the dyno so I don't think the ECU really had time to settle in, felt a difference initially but it kept getting better for at least a week after the dyno.... The easiest way to describe the difference in the car is like driving aggressively with the AC on then again with the AC off, it's a little better than that but its close....

Dyno sheet Here:http://www.ft86club.com/forums/album.php?albumid=802

Enjoy!!

Does anyone know what the weight difference between the TRD exhaust is compared to the stock one?

I doubt it b/c one of the dealers down here had Borla exhaust systems installed on both their cars. It sounds great and according to Borla shaved off 10 pounds and adds 4-6 wHP/TQ.

Same diameter piping and a $1000 price tag for something that "sounded better", when there are other well-crafted after market exhausts for nearly half as much.

I care about warranty too, but it seems like I'd rather save the 400 or so dollars and switch back to the stock exhaust should I ever need to bring the car in.

I respect TRD products, but I really don't get where they justify some of their prices.

EDIT: the piping is 2.5" that is still fairly restrictive for a $1000 aftermarket
Actually the midpipe is only 2.25" approx but the axleback 2.5". A member from these forums actually measured it a while back
