The Subaru website build your own page lists the Limited with a manual transmission at $27495. The BRZ Limited with an automatic transmission is $28595.
Delivery and destination is listed at $785, so the final figures are $28,280 and and $29,380 before TT&L. So, Charlies Subaru prices are $35 lower than the Subaru.com website. Is that an error? Did the dealer give you those figures as guaranteed? just curious.

They are guaranteed. I received the receipt and signed for that price on the order sheet. Btw it's a manual. Who would buy this car with an auto?

Well, good for you. I'll be curious as to what the sticker actually says. As for who would buy this car with an automatic transmission, well, don't look at that pre-order thread too closely . I've driven a manual for the last 5 years, and think it's time for a change. Plus, it gets better MPG, gets very good review comments, seems to be a worthy choice if you can sacrifice a little performance. Did I mention that my right arm was the one writing up the order? Must have had an influential vote....

Pretty sure it means it is his tired arm from shifting the last 5 years.

Ahhh. Well I'm curious why the auto gets 4 mpg better on the highway. An auto trans must be less efficient considering it's an old style torque conversion setup. Hmm

agreed on the auto choice...tired of getting questioned or put down because of that choice...but assume it comes from people who don't believe in choice, or ignorant that auto may work for some better than others. Shifting a manual in traffic is just no fun.

are you a dealer? if so where?

I believe it's been established that the better mpgs is due to longer gearing in the automatic. Better mpg at the cost of slower acceleration. So no wheelies in 6th for you!

Not necessarily...I'm hopeful that it means longer gearing in 5th and 6th but close to or equal ratios of the manual at the lower end...which would mean little to no sacrifice in acceleration but better mileage on the highway...

I don't think you're going to be happy, then. Early reports are that it's a half second slower to 60. I don't have a problem with that, and while manual transmissions usually outperform their EPA rating, autos do not. However, in this case, with the longer gearing, lockup in 2 thru 6, and the ability to paddle shift it, i suspect it will get very good, if not better fuel mileage than the manual in real world situations. And if you cruise on the highway at all, it should be a lower revving, lower volume experience.

I'll be plenty happy...I'm not buying this car for flat out acceleration...and I do tons of highway each day...so mileage is important to me as well.
...so are you a dealer or work at one?

No, I'm not, and not really a fan of dealers either. Wonder what I said that made you think that. I'm employed in the military industrial complex now, and have never worked for a car company in any capacity. I've bought most of my cars used just to avoid dealers and save money, but I'm smitten by this one, hence my willingness to pay full MSRP to get it ASAP.
