Got my final sales price

For reference I ordered a Limited w/Manual transmission
(All values rounded only slightly)

Car + Destination: $28,265
Tax (8.75% here): $2,500
Generic 'Fee': $100
Plates (transfer): $60

Total (approx): $30,900

Not too bad I suppose. Tax in NY sucks, not sure about other states.

At least your tax beats Ontario, Canada. 13%HST, so don't feel so bad.

Wow!

Though if I remember correctly there isn't an income tax in Canada (in most provinces at least I believe). Hence the higher sales taxes... I think?

Either way that's going to be a steep price there

100 seems pretty decent for fees.

My dealer sent me mine today as well. Official release price of 26,295, plus tax, title, tag, and a $299 () processing fee he has placed my Premium MT w/ no accessories at $27,474.20 OTD.

Earlier in the day he sent me a typical sales email that mentioned .9% financing on all new models. I asked him if my BRZ would be eligible and he said I had to wait to see what offers were available when it arrived. Drat.

Awesome to know! I ordered the exact same configuration and live in NY as well so this will help a lot when I finalize the price at my dealer.

Yup oddly enough my dealer was also pretty convinced the rates (both lease and finance) would be very good. That's something else to consider over the FRS in canada as Toyota Finance rates on Scions were pretty lousy (4.9-5.9).

Here I am complaining about 6.25% sales tax! Although mostly because it's harder to do math in my head compared to the 5% tax we had for the longest time...

Using those numbers with Texas sales tax, the car would be about $30,150 OTD. Not bad for a Limited MT.

That's pretty good, plus you paid MSRP.

The misc fee isn't bad either, I'd be more willing to fork that over than what some places charge here. My deposit is essentially nullified because of the doc fee.

Been having the same problem since we went from 5% to 6%.

If you think your number is fair, I'm going to use it as reference too, because here in Los Angeles the sales tax is also 8.75%. Thanks buddy!

Yup I think over all if you can get it at MSRP and only pay the government taxes and maybe a random "doc" fee up to 100-300 it's a fair deal. I remember what happened with the S2k and (more recently) the BOSS 302 and it's complete crap.

Seeing how as of right now 0.9% is not currently available on "all new models" (as the WRXs have 1.9%, and I'm not certain if that also applies to the STI), I would doubt that Subaru would offer financing specials (particularly as low as 0.9%) on a brand new model that is expected to make a big splash while being produced in relatively limited numbers.

Can anyone speculate what APR you can get with tier A credit on a 60mo. loan through Subaru FS (or whatever Subaru's financial service is called)?

This was a dealership email that stipulated .9% on all new models. Whether they will still be running the same promotion when the BRZ lands is the sticky part. I'm not counting on it.

I don't think anyone is going to be able to give you a straight answer since no one knows what will apply to the BRZ. However, if Subaru doesn't end up with a good rate, I may end up financing through PenFed. Anyone can join if you join an affiliated military organization for a nominal fee (think of it as a donation), and they're offering 1.99% APR on new auto loans.

If that's true, then that's pretty awesome... 0.9% is practically nothing. With a $30,000 purchase (just ballparking a BRZ with tax/fees included), $0 down and a five-year financing term, that amounts to less than $700 of interest over that period of time. And of course it gets even smaller with more money down and/or a shorter financing term.

I'm not an expert, but from what I remember, dealerships can't change Subaru's special interest rates, unless the dealership itself is going to be financing the vehicles (and not Subaru American Credit), but that's usually a practice more commonly found in used car lots.
