Hey guys, just wondering where I stand with my Stage 2 93 oct flash. Car has a Tomei UEL, Perrin 2.5 non-res catback, K&N panel filter and modified stock snorkel.

(Note, this pull was in 2nd gear only, approximately 75 degrees at 7:30 am, so relatively low humidity)

is there a preset tune for the following mods: Perrin Inlet hose, Perrin 2.5" Catback resonated exhaust? Considering switching from my Unichip if there's not much work involved with changing settings and such.

Read OFT TIPS link below will answer your questions.

Quick answer is yes

Stage 1 OFT Tune would be flash and go maybe 10 minutes, would take you longer to remove uni-chip.

Which TUNE should I run and what Mods are supported

Check the file called "release notes" in the zip file for the tunes you download from the site .

Rough guide OTS Map Requirements:

Stage 1- For vehicles equipped with original header. Other exhaust modifications also compatible. Stock airbox (with or without aftermarket drop-in panel filter) also recommend. Premium grade fuel or fuel as specified by tune.

Stage 2- For vehicles equipped with aftermarket cat-less headers. Other exhaust modifications also compatible. Stock airbox (with or without aftermarket drop-in panel filter) also recommend. Premium grade fuel or fuel as specified by tune

91 (USA) octane or better required for 91 octane tunes
93 (USA) octane or better required for 93 octane tunes
E85 required for tunes labeled E85 (ie fuel with 60 to 90% ethanol content)

Exception for Stock cars running E85 use Stage 2 E85 EL header tune http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67310

The OFT doesn't have specific tune files for all the various mods like the Unichip does. So you're not going to find a tune that specifically says "Perrin inlet hose and catback exhaust" like I'm sure you have from Unichip. I have a Unichip on my FJ, so I know they have different tune files for different brands of intakes, exhausts, etc. The OFT is more general, but is also much more customizable and tuneable than the Unichip. I like the OFT on my BRZ much more than my Unichip on my FJ.

What do you think for a catted UEL header? I have the one from FT86SpeedFactory (not a high-flow cat, so I assume it's closer to the stock header than it is to a catless) and I've been running Stage 1. Stage 2 just felt a little "hesitant".

What was your reasoning for getting the header? If you can't run Stage 2 with it you're probably not getting much benefit compared to the cost. Just MHO.

As to your question, you may be able to try Stage 2 91 if you have 93 octane in your area. The less-aggressive 91 tune with 93 octane may work out. Other than that is Stage 2 doesn't feel right you may have to work with Shiv to design a Stage 1.5 tune for you, as you could probably get more performance than Stage 1 is giving you.

Mostly sound and better torque curve, both of which it does deliver, albeit at a relatively high cost. I'm a bit anal about rasp, so catless wouldn't do it for me.

Unfortunately, I'm in Cali so only have 91 available

Is there a major difference in regards to power with the stage 1 93 vs stage 1 91?

EDIT: Found answer by googling in an older thread

While 93oct folks will be knock correction free for the most part. At least that is how it is in theory. In the upcoming release of 91 and 93 oct maps (with v1.60 OTS map release), what you will be presented with are two maps. One slightly less aggressive and one slightly more aggressive. Don't expect there to be a substantial power difference between them. Maybe 2-3whp up top

So I should go with Stage 1 as recommended and then do logs and adjust the values from there?

Looks too rich but that's how the tunes are. Mine is the same way.

Those parts with the stock tune don't really work too well.

Did that help?

Cheers,
shiv
