Wheel Directory: OZ Ultraleggera 18x8.0 +48
Could those who have this wheel please confirm which type of lug nut is required? I've already got a set of aftermarket (Rays) conical seat lug nuts and was wondering if I could use them on the Ultraleggera's....or will I need to get a new set of lug nuts?

Hey, sorry for bumping an old thread but I'm trying to get some feedback from actual owners before I buy wheels. Can anybody comment on the ride quality with these things? It looks like with a 245/35 tire, you're losing almost a half inch of sidewall height compared to the 215/45's that come on the car stock. Unsprung mass also comes into play but I would expect a sidewall reduction of that amount to reduce ride quality more than what the pound or so in weight savings will improve it.
You can always go to a 245/40 and be pretty much equal to stock sidewall height, but probably also a little heavier than stock and your overall wheel/tire diameter will be about an inch larger than stock, where the 245/35's were pretty much the same. Basically what I'm looking to do is to have something wider and better looking than stock without having to replace the stock suspension, but not end up with a ride any more bumpy than stock. Are these 18's worth looking at or should I just stick with a set of 17" ultraleggeras or 6UL's? |

I have 18x8 +45. I had 245/35 on them. recently I switched to 225/40 on them. The feel of the steering has improved greatly. And now there is enough room to add a small amount of camber in the front. The 18x8 +48 will be 3mm farther in than my +45. It should fit the 245/35 on stock suspension. It will be really close (or possibly rub) if you are lowered. (nothing a small spacer couldn't fix) 245/40 is heavier, I wouldn't suggest it. diameter is more important for fit and speedo readings than sidewall height. also, your suspension has more to do with ride quality than wheel/tires. going to a 245/35 is not much diff for ride quality. It changes steering feel a lot though. I love my 18's. I had two sets of 17's before upgrading to them. Good Luck! |

Okay I'm gonna add mine since I'm on OEM Performance Pack suspension (Sachs) and brakes (Brembo). 18x8 ET48, 225/40r18 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect. Brake calipers clearance is quite minimal but I'd say it's close to OEM PP wheels clearance. OZ claimed BRZ should get ET35 instead of 48 but I insisted on getting 48 anyways since Europe is really strict about wheels not sticking out of fenders and I was right - it fits just fine over PP brakes and doesn't rub agains suspension or anything. And for record - I'm tracking this car from time to time so I'm using fair amount of suspension travel and still did not get any rubbing.
I was afraid that 18" will look comically big on this car but with 40 profile tires they're really fine. If I could I'd personally lower it a bit maybe 1-2cm but I'm still using old wheels (which are a bit smaller) for winter tires and my crappy underground garage has really steep enterance so I'm already rubbing against it on original wheels with current suspension height thus unfortunately I can't lower my baby even a tiny bit :c Still imho it looks ok. I tried to capture many angles to show fender clearance. |
