I ride road bikes. I'm currently building a mostly-NOS late 80s Italian steel frame with Campagnolo C Record components. Can't wait to get it finished.

I have a 2009 Trek Remedy 7 (all-mountain) and a 2012 Trek 5.2 (road). Both great. I also have a Dahon folding bike. The last one is the easiest for going down to work on (all of them do it in 6 minutes door-to-door) but the benefit of that is that it can get thrown in the back of a taxi to go home. I do that if I'm going to work late, since the ride home is 26-30 minutes, almost all uphill on either of the other two bikes and I don't want to be doing that when it's already very late (say 11pm, 1am, or worse).

Redirzo, glad to see that you can fit bikes even with the full-size spare tyre in the boot! My 5.2 is a 58cm but hopefully it'll fit. Realistically I'll probably only use it to transport that, don't want mud or even dirt getting everywhere from the Remedy, plus I have a Legacy/Liberty and a Saris Bones 3 to carry that with anyway.

I'm in the same boat fuddbutter, although I'm only 6'1 - there's no way my bikes are going to fit in the back without being torn down. That tow hook rack looks like a great idea.

Currently have: Moots Vamoots, Salsa Vaya Ti, 90s Jamis Aurora frame built into a rando, Cannondale Rush 6, Bianchi Pista, and a New Belgum branded beach cruiser.

I should probably get rid of a few.

I'm not too knowledgeable about bikes but my friend's bike fit in the back of my BRZ. We had to fold down the seats and remove the wheel and then it fit fine.

I'm debating whether to spend $300 including accessories on an entry level hybrid bike at a chain sporting goods store or plop $500+ accessories on a higher range hybrid bike from a local specialty bike shop. Like most priviledged kids I had a single speed kid's bike a few times over my life and even had a "much nicer than I ever had before" mongoose mountain bike for a few years as a teenager until it was stolen. But I was never very serious about bicycling. I later found out my parents were more interested at some point in history but stopped biking before I was big enough to bike with them.

I want the multi speeds of an "adult bike," I remember propping them against buildings as a kid so I could ride the multi gear bikes my parents had, but I don't want the street bike frame with the narrow tires so I'm only looking at the hybrid bikes. Even though it'll be on roads and sidewalks, I'm pretty hard on stuff and need it to not throw me on the ground if I drive over a little gravel.
