I probably wouldn't use the Toyota software. An iPhone app makes a lot more sense for just reading the values, I'm just curious of that information is in there somewhere. No point in running wires and sensors for gauges if the sensors are already there.

The problem with that is there are many parameters that you just can't read with iPhone/android apps. Oil Temp, TPMS data, and others.

oem sensors arent as accurate, also when conducting a diagnostic. it helps to have to have a double set of values to compare one another.

*idea*

Mount it in the armrest with a touchscreen plate to cover the top! It would look pretty sweet, but cost a fortune.

Interesting idea. Might not be as expensive as you thing. Depends a lot on how much you can do yourself, and what you consider "A fortune"

Well, power is already running to the armrest area so major rewiring isn't necessary. I'd say the major cost would be in making the custom screen and finding the right guys to fabricate the mounts, or machine a custom replacement. I'm not sure how much room is under there to work with on a longitudal install of the mb.

Load up the software for those of us with a cable already. They pirated it in the first place might as well screw the screwers.

Software is on the torrentz. No reason to give the Chineeses your $$ for a subpar adaptor. Software works with any "passthrough J2534" OBD device.
