You can't decipher economics on one set of statistics alone; you correlate to another financial trend.
The slow down could have been anything from people owing taxes (who were going to use that money for a downpayment) to the sequester issue (lots of military members here) or people buying houses instead (putting off car purchase and taking advantage of low rates before values rise too much). Personally I just think most of the people who could get them and wanted them have gotten them and other people who appreciate the car but were concerned about a first year car are waiting and then there are those who loved the car but couldn't get approved or weren't ready to buy who will try to snap up a leftover. Winter and winter hanging on (it was snowing this morning in CT!), definitely played a role too. |

My guess is production is finally catching up with demand and 2014s are around the corner. Also it's tax time...

AutoNation Scion in the Houston area has 4 FRS sitting on the lot (most Houston dealers have 1 to 2), they are all Ultramarine and Black, neither color was what I wanted.
I asked them to locate me a Manual in Whiteout and they showed me the regional inventory had 17 Whiteouts targeted for the Southwest Area over a 3 week period. I put a deposit down for one and it took about 2 weeks for them to trade for one coming from the port and it should be here Friday. I think supply is just finally outpacing demand. |

I think it is safe to say it depends where you live and your economy in your region, here nothing ever slowed down not for a day. I originally before ordering mine was going to go balls out and buy a GTR, all sold and no chance of getting one till fall. Then a Nismo again couldn't get one. Went to Scion as I figured ahh screw it I like that FRS it will be a fun car to add to and tinker and personalize abit. Glad I went when I did there to as got last on list for the Whiteouts they had coming in. A week later I went to the dealer they have only 1 thats not spoken for of what has yet to even arrive, they completely sold out their spring and summer stock and are trying to get more from east coast for the demand.

Since sales are up significantly in March, it must be that Toyota has bumped production quite a bit (if people are seeing unsold cars in lots).
Basically demand has increased a little or is the same (if all the extra sales in March represent latent demand). Supply/production has increased a lot.

Doesn't change the fact that they won't be delivered until October, just didn't seem like "around the corner" to me. |

Some dealers are limited to how many FRS' they can sell. One of the workers at my local Toyota dealership said that the dealership is getting a certain amount of them depending on how many TCs they've sold in the past. Im guessing there is a certain ratio that the company is looking for so that they can distribute the cars by demand.
