Well it is Australia so maybe he just got a car made for the northern hemisphere and it went back to it's natural state.

They make 2017 versions of the lip kit, specifically for the MY17 cars. I have one on my 2017 BRZ as well (see videos in sig).

Currently fitted on the STI pink springs - so very slightly lowered.
